I don't think he'll be teaching much sociology, or revolution, where he's going. I'm guessing there's no ACLU to plead for him in Panama.

Even so, I hear that Boquete is still a great place to retire, and get a good cup of coffee.

What the H... is a 60 caliber mortar round?

Its length is 60 times its diameter what ever that may be. A long sucker for sure:)

You’re thinking of naval guns.
It’s 60 mm.

Free world forces use 60mm and 80 mm, the commies used 61mm and 81mm so that they could use our stuff if captured, but we couldn’t use theirs.

I am extremely glad and very happpy we made contact once again. It is always great to hear from you!

When are you and your wife heading up to Chiriqui? I love that part of Panama. My sister and my wonderful brother-in-law are there now. They are vacationing here from Denver. They should be back here in the next day or so.

I just returned from RibaSmith in Paitilla, and La Prensa was not carrying the story this a.m...at least not on the front page...I believe that would be front page news. It probably was too late for today’s printing. It should be on the news at noon though.

(Pause while I check channel 13. The news should be on in the next five minutes. Nothing. All the news channels are showing movies.)

“Remember that Noriega’s from Chiriqui and that Torrijos started his coup here. That, and a few years ago when the were expanding the David airport they accidentally dug up a mass grave.”

It is surreal we had a front row seat to all of this and even participated in the street riots. It’s a wonder I didn’t get hurt. But then, Noriega’s goons were poor shots.

When I would go to work, I always carried a change of clothes and other necessities in the event I couldn’t get home from work in the evening. I could depend on my lovely next door neighbor to feed my kitty cat if I couldn’t make it home.

Noriega deserves all the curses he has upon him: 2 strokes, hypertension, a bad heart, has trouble walking, has trouble talking, loss of a lot of weight, steep in depression, a bout with cancer...I wonder how the family members feel of those poor souls he had murdered. He is going to die in that Paris prison...Good.

Anyway, good making contact with you again. Take care, drive carefully, keep your car doors locked, and let me know of any further news. I will do the same.

My love to you and your wife.

Just got back visiting Volcan on the new road to Potrerios (where we live).   Beautiful country and we had time to relax and think about this nonsense.  My thoughts now is that this really is a left over pile of stuff from 20 years ago and the prof who was supposed to be sitting on it made the mistake of bragging about it once to often.  I don't think I'll loose any sleep over it.

Life here is good.  We got all the conveniences of the big city yet still all the benefits of country life.   Let us know when you're up here again.

Oh my gods. I had temporarily forgotten you folks did not live in Panama City. LOL!!! Is that what is called a “senior moment?”

As I told my sister and her wonderful husband, between the traffic in Panama City and Obama, I am angry 24 hours a day. I have arranged my schedule in that I only have to face the traffic a couple of times a week. Today was a great day to go supermarketing since it is a holiday. Everybody must have left town to go to another congested area.

“Let us know when you’re up here again.”

On the contrary. Let me know when you come here so I can host you to lunch.

Again, thank you.
