Slight bit of good news out of this - it might be just enough to piss off some Hispanic voters at the Dems and help the GOP’s margins this fall.

almost 60 Republicans are co-sponsors of the bill.

What in the world are these idiots thinking?

Now he has two amendments and 10 minutes apiece for each.

Now he knows what it is like to be a Republican under a Rat majority.

Let them vote..... And let Guam, Virgin Islands and American Samoa vote as well. It’s time to figure out who’s who. I have a feeling the dems might be very surprised how the state of Puerto Rico might vote.

Since Puerto Rico has control of their own fate (more or less), it seems absurd for Washington to dictate to them. I thought Glenn Beck’s analysis yesterday was quite enlightening on how this limits their options for succeeding votes....

The fact this has been kept under the radar is reason to believe it is bad for the US.

Puerto Ricans like their commonwealth status just like it is. It provides 97% of the benefits of being an American citizen, without those pesky income taxes. The last time they held a plebiscite, the breakdown was something like 65% for the status quo, 20% for full independence, and 15% for statehood. Hell, I’d take that deal for my own state!

The PR governor is a Republican, and is a leader in the statehood movement there.

They have been part of the US for a century now. Its time to quit shacking up and go see the preacher.

It's a split for Democrats, although one that likely won't matter — almost 60 Republicans are co-sponsors of the bill.

Why would 60 Rs sponsor such a bill?

This is one issue that the TRUE American Right (who don’t want to absorb a Third World nation of 4 million into our Republic) and the Far Left can agree on. Anybody who care about preserving our culture, our civilization, and our identity as a First World nation must oppose PR statehood.

almost 60 Republicans are co-sponsors of the bill.

All of whom should be slapped aside the head for wanting to bring in an impoverished, Third World, Spanish-speaking people by shoving statehood down their throat. Anyone who says they want to restrict illegal and legal immigration and are opposed to DC Statehood should, if they had any logic in their mental faculties, oppose PR statehood. It was bad enough that the pale-faced saps gave citizenship to PR back in 1917, now they want to bring us further to the left by bringing in PR as a state. I wish this weren't the case, but nonwhite, poor people dependent on government employment/services DO NOT make good Republican voters. The GOP is once again shooting themselves in the foot so as not to appear "racist."
