NORWOOD For more than six decades, Rosemary Farrell visited a cemetery plot near her childhood home in Arlington with a granite marker but no grave. It was for her older brother, whose fate was known only as the US Army presumed it: death on a German battlefield in 1944.
Yesterday, a military honor guard delivered John J. Farrell Jr.s remains to his family, 66 years after he went missing in action during the Battle of Hurtgen Forest.

Welcome home, Sgt. Farrell. My prayers for your family and my sincerest appreciation for your sacrifice.
Ironically he went off to fight the National Socialists, only to come home to face the same enemy.
Welcome home! Rest easy soldier, you’ve spent your time in hell.
God Bless...
1.My dad died in 1985.
2.He was a member of the 82nd Airborne in WWII.
3.He was in Salerno, Anzio, all through Europe, fighting.
4.What would he think today, if he could come back to see the result of what he fought for?
5.I pray the communists dont take over. If they do, theres no place to hide.
Welcome home, Sgt. Farrell. And may your dad RIP as well. My own dad died in ‘95 (he was a Korean War vet). As to your point #5: if it ever happens, American patriots will need to do what they’ve always done. I’m ready for that.
There will be no place for THEM to hide. Once we have well defined targets, "accidents" can start to befall them.
My dad passed away in 1999. He was at North Africa, Sicily, Salerno, Casino and wounded after Anzio, on the road to Rome. He was with the Thuderbirds 45th Infantry Division.
I remember one time during the Clinton Administration he said sadly, "What is happening to my country!" He wasn't a political type either and it just kind of came out.
I am so glad he is not here to see this.
How much more defined do they need to be? There's a 'nest' in D.C.
The "nest" is too well defended. We need to get them and their enablers when they are outside of the nest.
I live in this town.
Welcome home soldier!
Thank you.
RIP
“A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Norwood.”
