GOP's Graham: No immigration bill until 2012
WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | 27 APRIL 2010 | WASHINGTON TIMES

Sen. Lindsey Graham, the sole Republican working on a bill to legalize illegal immigrants, in effect put the bill on the shelf on Tuesday, saying that a debate now would destroy any prospects for passage and that the issue needs to wait until 2012.

The remarks likely signal the end of any serious chance for broad immigration legislation to pass this year, since Mr. Graham, South Carolina Republican, was the best hope for a partnership with President Obama and Democrats who want to write a bill.

"It is impossible for me and any other serious Democrat to get this body to move forward until we prove to the American people we can secure our borders," Mr. Graham told Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who was testifying at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

Then it will be at least 2013 or later. No sane republican will want to go anywhere near it in 2012.

It starts in November of 2010. After that, it can move as fast as our politicians want it to move.

Poor Lindsey. He doesn’t even have Juan McCain’s butt to nibble on and hide behind this year, given that McCain is involved in his once-every-6-years act of pretending he’s a conservative.

Absolutely. If not 2011, then they might try 2013. They wouldn't dare touch that hot-button issue in an election year.

“”It is impossible for me and any other serious Democrat”

Any ‘other serious Democrat’...Freudian slip??? lol

If Obama doesn’t push an amnesty before 2012, the ‘latino’ caucus will have his head and their constituency will be out of hand.

Reminds me of one of McCain’s excuses for Amnesty
( err..’legalization’, according to him)
This may be the ONLY time John McCain told the truth.

John McCain: no amnesty for illegal aliens could lead to France-style riots

...The man wasn’t satisfied with McCain’s answer. He asked McCain why the U.S. couldn’t execute large-scale deportations, as he had heard they did in France and other countries. The question seemed to pique McCain.

“In case you hadn’t noticed, the thousands of people who have been relegated to ghettos have risen up and burned cars in France,” McCain said. “They’ve got huge problems in France. They have tremendous problems. The police can’t even go into certain areas in the suburbs of Paris. I don’t want that in the suburbs of America.”

McCain doesn’t want riots in the streets? But he’s willing to give up our country to the Mexicans? Give me a break! If Obama grants amnesty, he’s out of office. If he doesn’t, he’s out of office. His bid for re-election is over.
