Finally got the lemon tree out onto the back deck. It's BIG and HEAVY! Then I wheeled a bunch of computer parts up to the new place. Most are going to get tossed...sigh.
Mark Steyn in for Rush. I like him more and more.
And Michelle Bachman ...wow is she great!
Did Rose say she was going to be in Monday? I really wanted to go to the summit but with the moving there's just no way.
Have to put some stuff away...be back in a bit.

I bet she isn't going to have a lot of time to dedicate to gardening this year...sigh.

Hello-everybody.
A colleague had an article about how Cap and Trade will affect home sales because older homes will have to be “retrofitted” to accommodate new standards. I told her Quinn mentioned this many moons ago. It is so nice to be informed!!!
FWIW our community just held a meeting with "community planners" who are going to "advise" us on how to run our community. The first thing they are kicking around is shitting down our local elementary schools and building a new school near the high school. Sadly that property is OUT OF OUR COMMUNITY! We have to pay LOTS of taxes for maintenence, security, ecetera!
THe sheeple here think it's fantastic!
Another reason we're leaving!

Well, Mr S was life-flighted to Shadyside Hospital last Sunday. His kidneys were failing, he was hooked up to so many bags that it was hard to get close without stepping on all the tubes and wires. They found an infection that had settled on the wires from the pacemaker into his heart. They removed the pacemaker, but the infection had spread. (sepsis?) He was on antibiotics for an infection the week prior. The docs think that maybe it killed off the weaker germs, but the stronger ones survived and multiplied. In any case, he now has a raging infection, which the doctors are trying to clear up. He is still very, very ill.
That said, his kidneys started working. He is not out of the woods yet, but he looks better, and is down to about four IV bags. He has a long row to hoe, but hes slowly getting better instead of worse. He will probably be off work for 6 weeks. I dont know if that will be in the hospital or at home. Right now, hes still in ICU, but they may be moving him to a regular room soon.
He is on the prayer lists of about four churches and all friends and relatives are praying. I appreciate the continued prayers of my friends here at Free Republic.
Ive been staying at the Family House across from the hospital. What wonderful people Pittsburghers are! The volunteers here are so generous and compassionate. Its been a great comfort to have a place to stay. Also, our sons breaks failed as he was leaving the hospital two nights ago, and he was able to stay here as well as his car was fixed.
Well, Ill get back to you all when I can. Im checking out of Family House today. Ill be home by this evening and Ill let yunz all know how my dear husband is doing.
God bless, sneakers
Hi Greg (and every one else). Thx Greg for putting the thread up, and naming it with our prayers and good thoughts for the Sneakers family.
Had to run work related errands this afternnoon, and boy did I enjoy Mark Steyn while driving...awesome as usual. And somehow I have to figure out how to work Weiggers w/moobs into my daily conversations.
As KM pointed out (and we have all heard Quinn mention) the energy requirements are going to make existing home sales impossible. No more “fixer uppers” or “as is where is.” I used to work in RE (agent) and our market IS older homes; that in many cases have the original owners residing til health/old age makes them move on.
I used to point out the the meticulously clean, 40 year old cook top in perfect working order was representative of how well maintained the home was. In those homes the bathroom/kitchen fixtures sparkled because they were cleaned regularly. Some ‘newer’ places you would find not so great house keeping (both parties working looooong hours). So its a trade off...but appliances that are well maintained still work. And home owners will have to junk them (at a great cost) to sell (and not make as much profit). Its insane!!!
Yet another ‘control’ of our destinies!!! YOU can’t move!!! Stay put.
Anyway, RE (particularly staging houses) was my favorite job ever. Sigh.
Also, I guess none of us went to the Post Tea Party meeting/seminar out by the Airport. Its a great idea.
Will check in later...hopefully sneakers will update.
See yinz!
thank you so much for this update! prayers for your man Sneakers! dang, what a mess. But God is in control. Love to you all across the miles
Prisner 6 suggested I do the update a big thanks to him and thank you friends for those kind words..waiting for sneakers next update..prayers away..

PA mom-I may need those staging skills when I have to list my house....(I love this house, and I am gonna miss it!!)
I thought I would share with you all a story I found and posted earlier:

Talk to you all later!
Hi Greg:
I wanted to update you on Dennis. You can pass it along to our Quinn & Rose buds (Rose buds?!)
Im beat. I just got back from Pittsburgh. Mr S keeps spiking a fever, which has them worried. They finally found out the source. There are two things left in his heart that the pacer wires were attached to. That is the source of the infection that is causing his fever. It will require heart surgery to fix. That will be at a later date, when they get rid of the staph infection that is raging in his body, and when he is stronger. Meanwhile, hes starting to retain fluid, which is another worry. It puts strain on an already weak heart.
On the positive side, he is eating regular food again, and they had him sitting up in a chair for about two hours. He needed help getting into the chair, but he could tolerate being up for awhile. He is still in ICU, but were hoping hes in a regular room soon. And then, hopefully, he will be sent home an we will have a caregiver in. Hell be off work about six weeks, as hell be on IV. I cant wait until hes home for selfish reasons as well; I dread the hour and a half drive to Pittsburgh every day. Three hours of driving, there and back - especially during the week when I will be back at work - takes its toll.
I cant believe how fast this whole thing hit him. Two Saturdays ago, he felt fit enough to clean debris around his pond. And yet, today, he can barely stand without someone holding him up! I am so afraid for him
Even though I havent posted much, Ive been reading all the posts. It gives me such comfort to have such wonderful friends praying for him - and also me and our son. We also have such wonderful support from our families.
I cant wait to get back to a normal life and discussing the wrongs and failures of the present regime!
Thank you all for your friendship and your prayers. They mean a lot.

Prayers up for Mr S and sneakers.

Sneakers, continued prayers and good thoughts for you both. The drive from Indiana to Shadyside has to be exhausting...please take good care of yourself and be careful. This will all just seem like a ‘bad dream’ in a month or so (Mr. S will get his strength back to enjoy his pond!)...G-d be with you both!
