DeMint not ruling out presidential bid

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) -- a rapidly-emerging national conservative figure -- is not ruling out a run for the White House.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network, DeMint said that he does not "desire" to run but left the door open for a bid.

"Well I guess I’ve learned not to rule out anything in life but right now it’s the last thing I want to do," he said. "It’s not something I desire. Anyone who really desires it does not know how much trouble we’re in as a country because we’ve got some tough times ahead of us and we need a President, who says we can get through it."

Excellent news. J.D. Hayworth was the same way too before he was convinced to run against the RINO McCain!

DeMint/Paul Ryan would be a solid ticket. I am not one to make these predictions, but that would be the ultimate reform ticket. Drop the mavericks and bring in the reformers.

Ryan is kinda of a wuss. He ended up being a TARP cheerleader. He needs to grow a spine before I’d consider him.

DeMint is a game changer. To the extent many here have imagine the game has even started. His running would be a great thing! Imagine the endless threads here too!

I’m still hoping Hunter runs. But DeMint is my #2 right now. Close call between him, Inhofe, and Steve King

I’m with you on this one! As far as Paul Ryan being a wuss, he is young and can be taught, still has pretty good instincts. We need fresh blood, not more of the
same. Keep an eye on Ryan and let’s see how he does in the next year. DeMint would make a good choice. I particularly like that he really doesn’t want to be put in the position of running. Sounds a little like a founding father-George Washington!

I like Ryan too but I think he already said he wouldn’t run. Not sure he is old enough either?

I like Jim DeMint and would gladly vote for him. But I think we are going to win the solid South, certainly including SC, in 2012, almost regardless of the candidate. I’m less sure of the Midwest, states like Indiana and Ohio that we need to win. Mitch Daniels could help there, being from Indiana. Or maybe Christie for VP — that could help in NJ and more important PA.

Umm...

Hugh...

DeMint was an early pro-active endorser of Mitt Romney.

So, how is this great, yet Palin backing her running mate,McCain is a disqualifier?

Absolute hypocrite.

Yeah Ryan needs to come back and show us he is a conservative.

The door was open just a little to Romney a few years ago but he is a RINO, statist, Democrat.

DeMint is A1.

I think we need old + new. So, while I’ve never been a big Gingrich fan, he’s earned my respect over the last years (as a pol, thinker, foreign policy analyst and patriot). Yes, he’s had a few stumbles, but, as we’ve seen in Obambi, it’s horrible to send a rookie to the White House. In particular, to unravel this legislative mess we’re in, we need someone who’s been doing this quite a while (Newt) and someone who has some seasoning but also a lot of plain common sense and fire in the belly.

I’d say Gingrich/DeMint would be a good combo that would bring a lot to the country at this time. I’m not looking at who I “like” so much, as who would be good/best for the country at this particular point in history.

DeMint has worked tirelessly and fearlessly for US this year. I thank him. And I would definitely consider him a top-tier candidate if he put his name in the hat.
