TAYLOR: Obama and the politics of intimidation--Justice Department blocks polling-place invest..
The Washington Times ^ | April 22, 2010 | Ashley L. Taylor Jr.

Posted on 04/21/2010 5:01:04 PM PDT by jazusamo

On the first Tuesday in November, two uniformed men arrived at a voting place and took up positions by the entry doors. In the hours that followed, they harassed voters and election officials, hurled racial epithets and physically blocked persons of other races who sought to cast their votes for president of the United States. One of the men brandished a nightstick.

Bartle Bull, a civil rights movement veteran, was there. He says it was "the most blatant form of voter intimidation I have encountered in my life in political campaigns in many states, even going back to the work I did in Mississippi in the 1960s." The crimes Mr. Bull witnessed that day were not committed in 1960s Mississippi, however. Those crimes took place in 2008 in Philadelphia.

It is regrettable that on the day when the United States elected its first black president, two thugs in Philadelphia perpetrated acts of race-based voter intimidation of the type that marred elections in segregation-era America. It also is inexcusable that President Obama's Justice Department refuses to fulfill its duty and bring those racists to justice. Led by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., political appointees at the Obama Justice Department overruled career federal prosecutors and dropped voter-intimidation charges against the men.

The Justice Department obtained only a narrow, meaningless injunction against the man who taunted voters with the nightstick. He has been enjoined from brandishing a weapon within 100 feet of the entrance to any polling place (an act which was illegal to begin with) but only until November 2012.

Now the Justice Department is obstructing the U.S. Civil Rights Commission's investigation into this case. If two white men had donned police uniforms or white robes and terrorized a voting place, we can be certain the Justice Department...

It scares the heck out of me that they can now selectively enforce laws and base prosecution on factors such as political affiliation or race. This is more devastating to me then even the government takeover of the private sector. The fact that this is taking place without any real resistance shows that the progressives have all but brought down what was once the greatest nation ever.

Obama the simplistic jerk, thinks erroneously that all inequality is rooted in injustice. That is a sophomoric, self-serving, and inaccurate assumption. Life is complex. Tragedy and suffering are complex. We should all work to end them, as best we can, but the path to that should not and does not justifiably include disenfranchisement and injustice to those who don't share Obama’s world view and who don't fit the definition that Obama and his fellow travelers have of ‘the oppressed’.

In that they have no moderation at all, I would hazard to guess that they will plan to do this in the future. And that seems to be an excellent opportunity for a few martial artists to practice their skills.

The way this works is for the martial artists to attempt to enter the voter registration place. If their path is blocked, then they ask the blockers to move. If they refuse, then it is open season.

However, it is not a typical fight. The martial artists disable and injure the bad guys just enough so they cannot continue to man their “post”, and maybe have to spend some days or weeks in the hospital. Then they abruptly leave.

It would also be good to have a picture of the bad guys blocking the entrance as well, so that when they proclaim they were just minding their own business, they picture can be all over the Internet, showing that they were involved in a criminal activity.

It just goes to show that the Civil Rights Commission is a paper tiger when it comes to violations by those of color. I’m too far away to walk up to these thugs and put a round in their heads....but that what was needed.

That would be just fine, too bad that didn’t happen to these NBPP jerks in 2008.

We take note of the government’s failure to act on our behalf. Must we turn to the vigilante?

Why were they allowed to stay at the polling place for hours? They should have been arrested after the first voter was intimidated. The election officials should have called the local police. With video cameras on so many cell phones these days, it should all have been taped, but in the meanwhile they’d have spent election day in the slammer.

I agree on all points. They were caught on video and when law enforcement arrived they handled the jerks with kid gloves. The whole thing was handled wrong from that day until now.

Just one of the videos

Hopefully my children will live to see the day cops and the public at large are not intimidated by the thought of saying or doing something to thugs like this simply because they are a protected minority. What are the chances any of that video was shown on local tv that day? Or since?

Amen to not being intimidated by these type thugs in the future.

Actually these videos have been shown from around the first of last year and have probably been viewed by millions.

This is why there’s been such an outrage about the Holder DOJ (Obama) blowing this off. There’s absolutely no doubt they were intimidating voters because there’s video of it.

The Civil Rights Commission has been trying to get answers for over a year and they’ve been blown off.

It’s not only a blatant act of breaking the law by the NBPP but a blatant act of covering for them by Holder’s DOJ.
