Good article. Thankfully Hatfill won a large settlement from the government and his accusers.

Dr. Hatfill probably collected twice as much from Vanity Fair and Readers' Digest than he collected from the government. That case was settled, and the details were kept secret. But Vanity Fair and Readers' digest were PLEADING with Hatfill to settle. His lawyer didn't want to settle, so he changed lawyers for that case and accepted the settlement. It MUST have been for millions. And, because the lawyer was only there to handle minor details, Hatfill probably pocketed almost all of the settlement.

Too bad Hatfill's lawsuit against The New York Times was thrown out because he was a "public figure." He was only a public figure because The New York Times helped to make him a public figure. The New York Times probably did more than anyone else to make sure that Dr. Hatfill was investigated by the FBI.

People forget that The NY Times and others were accusing the FBI of covering up for Dr. Hatfill and some Senate staffers virtually FORCED the FBI to start investigating Dr. Hatfill. They were campaigning to have Dr. Hatfill investigated for EIGHT MONTHS before the FBI did the first search of his apartment.

Science magazine did a piece where they praised Barbara Hatch Rosenberg for her efforts to nail "the anthrax killer," only the person she was pointing at was totally innocent.
