Earth Day on April 22 isnt just about environmental rallies and the mounds of trash in their wake. Its also a reminder that theres a lot of green to be made from green companies. The IBD 100 list of the very best stocks based on fundamental and technical factors includes several eco-friendly firms:
3. Aixtron (AIXG)
The German company makes equipment used to make LED, or light-emitting diode, chips. LEDs are fast gaining steam as a green lighting alternative. They use far less power than incandescent bulbs without the mercury of fluorescents. LED chips are used in many different types of computer and cell phone displays. Aixtrons earnings exploded 533% in the latest quarter on 47% sales growth.
8. Industrial Services of America (IDSA)
The company buys, processes and sells scrap metals

Celebrate Lenin’s 140th birthday with...
Happy Birthday to V.I. Lenin and all of his
followers celebrating on this Earth Day
I won’t utter “Happy Earth Day”, but I may say “Happy Holidays” so that it can provoke the discussion “what other days are you talking about?”
LED lighting is harsh, it is bright where it is hitting a subject but the drop off is almost immediate. If you try taking photos under it (say at a concert), it becomes apparent.
Fluorescent lighting will have it’s own issues too. You can hear the hum of the lights in fluorescent tube lighting, it is flickering even if you don’t consciously register it, it has a color cast that your eyes adjust for but your recording devices do not automatically offset, and it can disrupt radio reception (something the liberals will be happy to hear).
If someone else wants to adopt such a lighting strategy, that is their CHOICE but nope, the Clinton Administration usurped power and mandated that filament bulbs go off the market.
I'd act as though I didn't know what the heck they were talking about. If they tried to explain, I'd cut in with "Oh. It's one of those radical, kook type things, right? Who in their right mind would use a whole day to celebrate rocks and dirt? Geeze. These people need to get a life!"
Earth Day? Reminds me to get the chainsaw serviced.
I want all the "useful idiots" to know
what they are celebrating on this day.
130 INS people can be devoted to this "custody dispute" (which began as people fleeing a dictatorship seeking asylum) but they can't address illegal immigration. Our government is corrupt.
“Fluorescent lighting ... can disrupt radio reception “
It also makes noise through electric/electronic instruments (something I deal with as a guitarist).
Q: How many guitar players does it take to change a CFL?
A: Three - one to screw it in, and the other two to talk about how an incandescent bulb produces a warmer, more natural light.
Thanks for post.
I will use this list to ensure I do not buy any products from those on the list, nor any stock in them.
Those who support the hallucination of global warming by man should expect backlash from reasonable folks.
Unlike the ALGore twisty “light bulbs” (CFLs) that don’t work, LEDs make some sense. They put out a tremendous amount of light for their electricity consumption. I understand that they don’t run hot, so you get light not heat. They last a tremendous length of time.
Current downside: The initial cost is high. I understand from other reading that the ROI on the LEDs is excellent, but most people will be put off by the initial cost of the bulb. You may save 10X the amount of money (NPV) on the LED over its life, but who wants to spend $10 for a bulb for a lamp?
When the initial cost of the LED bulbs come down, I’m switching.
I am too busy increasing my carbon footprint.
If these lefties want to save the earth they shouldn’t have these festivals because everyone who is there has to drive and doesn’t that make ‘mother earth’ choke on the exhaust?
They should sit in there homes with no lights on and chant ‘gee, I’m am idiot’ over and over again.
