NICK CLEGG, the Liberal Democrat leader who until a few days ago was little known to voters, is now the most popular party leader since Winston Churchill, a new Sunday Times poll reveals.

Following his decisive victory in last week’s television debate, Clegg has surged to a higher approval rating than Tony Blair at the peak of new Labour’s popularity.

Interesting character.

He’s Atheist, but raises his children as Catholic, in keeping with his wife’s wishes.

I’ve heard he gives great speeches. About what, I do not know.

A Lib-Dem is what you get when you take Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman and form a new party called Independents. It’s a hybrid third way between the Conservatives and the Liberals and as such it will drift ever further left since it has no real values except Socialism on a less grand scale.

Not a Brit here, but from reading the article it would not seem to be good news. The LibDems are described as having a similar agenda to Labour, with Clegg a fetching new face. Britain’s Obama, in other words, is my take on it.

I bet he’s promising to find a new source of welfare income now that everyone in Britain is flat broke.

Oh you really don’t want to know.

Heres some policies.

Give rapists and murderers the vote.
Put 58,000 criminals on community service instead.
Dump the pound, go into the euro.
Dump Trident nuclear detterent.
Soft on immigration including amnesty on long term illegals.
Become further involved deeper in Europe.

Think the whole country as San Francisco if they win. it should be noted, the uk population seem to be idiots because this surge is coming from one debate, media hype (i hate these SOB’s)an internet campaign of kids and people not actually looking at his policies just going “oh he looks nice” So yes we are screwed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_Democrats#Ideology_and_internal_factions

An excerpt from that segment: “In 2009, Nick Clegg said he hoped to make the party a “vanguard of the progressive centre left” in the next general election.”

They are a left-wing, pro-Europe, pro-welfare, environmentalist and anti-war party. With the way things are over there right now, the Lib Dems have basically no shot of being the largest party after the election and in all likelihood won’t come close, but they can hand the election to Labour if they peel off enough Conservative votes.

Hmmm, let's play a game here. He's Muslim, but raises his children as "Christian", keeping with his wife's wishes.

I’ve heard he gives great speeches. About what, I do not know.

He gives great speeches. Now where have I heard that before ... does the UK have their own Obama running as a candidate? ;)

My first instinct was that he’s a Britobama. But then again, so are most British politicians.

Hopefully the Liberal Dems will split the Labour vote, and the Tories will sweep in strong. Also, with just 500 candidates, UKIP, which is the real opposition party, will clean up at the polls and make a major entry into Parliament. Up to now they have only put their people in EU Parliament seats.

And *that*, in turn, might be enough to bloc with the conservatives remaining in the Tories to reverse a lot of Labour’s policies. UKIP has decided to *not* run against candidates of other parties who are also Eurosceptics.

One of their big issues is that the EU is draining vast amounts of money out of Britain, which can only be curtailed if Britain leaves the EU.

So the media orgasm about the Liberal Dems may do more to restore Britain’s independence since the end of WWII.
