Or were you referring to Federal income tax? If so, my apologies for misunderstanding your comment.
What?
Sorry, I was referring to the Fed Income Tax. His last opponent, Rob Curnock, wanted to replace income tax with fair tax, and Edwards made it seem that Curnock wanted to add the fair tax to the income.
Two asides:
Rob Curnock lost the GOP primary to Bill Flores, who I know little about being from a different district.
Debra Medina ran on the fair tax for Gov, which is a state issue. We have no income tax, so I dont know what she planned to repeal. But a sales tax plus high property taxes didnt help her.
The basic problem with these consumption tax proposals is that we would first need to pass a constitutional amendment repealing income taxation at all levels of government. Otherwise, they’d bring back the income tax at the first revenue shortfall, and we’d end up with a Europe-style VAT on top of high income taxes.
Thanks for info and clarification.
Regards,
SZ
