Sorry, Shadowstrike, that is simply not so in Georgia. While you can of course join any number of Republican Party organizations, there is no registration by political party by the state government, as our primaries are “open”. That is, when you show up to vote in a primary election, you typically have a choice of a Republican, a Democrat, or a non-partisan primary ballot. You make the choice right then, and it doesn’t affect which ballot you can choose in the next election cycle. However, if there is a primary run-off, you can’t choose a different type ballot in that cycle (so you can’t vote a Republican primary ballot and a Democrat primary run-off ballot).

my point was that you CAN choose to be a Republican in Georgia. Sorry if I was unclear. Long day at work.
