After thinking about this for months now, I believe you’ve nailed it. You are right, everything else about him exudes arrogance and in-your-face posturing.
The ONLY time the contrary is seen is in these instances where he “humbles himself” and takes it upon himself the “sins” of our country. Apologizing and bowing to other world leaders.
