UPDATE: The school board has decided to postpone any decision on the textbook until May.
A Tennessee father told his sons school board it should ban a biology textbook because of its bias against Christians.
Kurt Zimmermann is appealing a Knoxville school district's decision to keep the book. He says the textbook used in his sons biology class cites creationism as a "biblical myth." According to reports, he requests, 'non-biased' textbooks be used. In his words, the current textbook's phrasing misleads, belittles and discourages students in believing in creationism and calls the Bible a myth.
"Education material that is offensive, intolerant, racist, or one-sided in nature should not be used in our school system," Zimmermann told the board members Wednesday.
Knoxville County School superintendent Jim McIntyre says the committee's finding to keep using the book is appropriate. However he asked the board to hear Zimmerman's appeal Wednesday, April 7.
Melissa Copelan, the boards director of public affairs tells Fox News, when there is a concern about education materials there is a process that is followed
Now it is up to the board.

Does it cite evolution as fact or theory?
Good question.
That is a good question. However, what I find refreshing is that this guy has found a way to fight the school board without raising the evolution/creation question. He is fighting, in a way, political correctness that is subtley discounting Christianity.
The board needs to act or it will be up to a court.
Why does the book have to say anythign about creationism at all, just remain silent on it. Seems like it is used as a tool for slamming christians.
Tim-
It’s biased against Jews as well. Genesis is Old Testament. This book pretty much says There Is No God.
It doesn't matter. Biology is the study of life. Creation is a theological belief.
Get over it. This is an asinine lawsuit and should be thrown out.
They will if: “MUSLIMS ARE ENRAGED!”.
We need to see the exact text this guy is suing over. If it does make an explicit statment about religions belief than I believe he could have a case.
>>Does it cite evolution as fact or theory?<<
It is a Scientific Theory. That isn’t a “guess” — it is the highest echelon of information in science. Evolution happened. TToE explains it.
Is everything a myth, then? What is reality? Please elaborate.
>>This is an asinine lawsuit and should be thrown out.<<
If it explicitly says the Bible is a myth, then that is over the line and also wandering into areas which the Life Sciences do not belong. The same would be true for any theological text or concept.
OK
>>Is everything a myth, then? What is reality? Please elaborate.<<
Philosophy is also not Science. It can be fun and has applications in the scientific realm, but it provides nothing that can be harnessed nor explained.
I agree. If it has to cite anything about the creation, it should just state that no one really knows or something to that effect.
Does it say that?
"One-sided" is in the eye of the beholder; as are the terms: "offensive," "intolerant," and "racist."
As my tagline suggests, there is room for improvement inside closed minds.
