Obama gives order to kill American terror imam
Times On Line (UK) ^ | April 8, 2010 | Tim Reid, Washington

The Obama Administration has taken the unprecedented step of authorising the killing of a US citizen, the radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, linked to the plot to blow up a US airliner on Christmas Day.

The move to place Mr al-Awlaki, 38, on a hit list was taken after a White House review concluded this year that he had moved from inciting terrorist attacks to taking part in them.

The decision is extraordinary not only because Mr al-Awlaki is believed to be the first American whose killing has been approved by a US President, but also because the Obama Administration chose to make the move public.

I say, kill the terrorist before they kill us, however...

...I am concerned about our Chicago-style POTUS being able to create and announce a "hit-list" to take out an American citizen.

The Obama administration is concerned about the legal rights of the terrorist-prisoners at Gitmo; yet, they put out a public "hit" on a American citizen, turned terrorist.

Aren't powerful, and influential groups trying to label the Tea Party members as domestic terrorist?

Just so long as he doesn’t tap his phone, waterboard him or put panty hose over his head, I’m cool with it.

I agree. If there is evidence to link the man with known felonies, then a grand jury should be convened to prefer charges against him and US Marshals should be dispatched to arrest him. Otherwise, this is, as you say, a hit on an American citizen.

Seems to me that the option the administration has taken here is the Capone way, not just the Chicago way.

Anyone want to bet Obama got permission first from the Taliban or Al Qaeda to do this?

I figure al-Awlaki could have been with the CIA - but as he mingled with the terrorist he became radicalized - now they have to snuff him.

This was announced shortly after the Ft. Hood bombing but the statement was made again to negate the call to remove the words ‘islamic terrorists’ from the lexicon.

Is anyone fooled? Of course not.

Where is the ACLU on this, is what I’d like to know.

The POTUS and his regime are going to kill a U.S. citizen without due process.

Obama, Rahm, and Axelrod are murderous Chicago thugs.

Where is Eliot Ness when you need him?

Will you please send me or post some links to where it was announced shortly after the Ft. Hood bombing that Obama was going to be sending out death squads to put hits on American terrorist?

But see, we still believe America is operating under the authority of the U.S. Constitution.

Since he is working with the enemy in a combat zone I really think it’s about time some weapons are cleared hot for his AO.

Would be even better news if there were a couple of photog’s sitting with him shooting the breeze when it happens.

Then try him for treason in absentia, convict him, and give him the death penalty. The law matters.

I heard it on the 6 to 7 PM FNC show last night. Not sure if it was Krauthammer or the guy at the end of the table who reported that this was not new but was re released to take attention away from the new protocols.

I would say the point is more - that we know he is in a given area and our systems are targeting all the bad guys they can find.

If he just happens to end up on the wrong end of an incoming missle - “Too bad, Oh so sad”.

Without the order people would be screaming that we’re killing Americans by accident. No accident - he’s been warned.

No of course he could surrender - at which time he’ll be given full access to our laws.

We’ll see which comes first.

giving AQ all the excuse they need to come and whack him as an apostate...which I thought was the whole rationale behind the Executive Order banning assassinations in the first place.
