Senator John McCain, whose reelection campaign has adopted a decidedly anti-maverick slant, released a new radio ad Wednesday assailing his primary challenger J.D. Hayworths proclivity for earmarking while in the House of Representatives.
The 60-second spot features anti-pork crusader Congressman Jeff Flake, Republican of Arizona, who credits McCain with a career devoted to eliminating wasteful federal spending and aligns Hayworth with big spending Democrats.
Republicans, including Senator McCains opponent, lost their bearings on federal spending, Flake said. They loaded up bills with pork barrel projects, and the voters punished Republicans by putting Democrats in charge.

Your earmark crusade is all show. You can take all of JD's earmarks and multiply them by 10,000 and never come close to the 2.6 tillion dollars in federal benefits that it would cost if you and McCain got your way and passed illegal alien Amnesty. WHo says so? Those raving liberals at the Heritage Foundation.
b) You take all of JD's earmarks, multiply them by 10,000 and they would never come close to crippling the US economy the way McCain's Cap and Trade global warming bullsh*t legislation would have.
c) You can take JD's earmarks and multiply them by 100 and never reach the costs that would be incurred for closing down Gitmo, moving the terrorists stateside, and giving them federal court trial like you boy McCain has advocated.
d) You could take all of JD's earmarksand multiply them by 1000 and never reach the costs to the US economy of McCain's advocacy for EPA restrictions and regulations that have been unleashed onto America.
e) You could take all of JD's earmarks and make them dissappear, but they would not have reduced spending in the bills they were attached to by a single penny. It would just give the DOT or other organization the funds to spend as they saw fit.
f) You could take all of JD's earmarks and multiply them by 10,000 and you would not reach the level of economic damage done to the economy if class warfare dipsh*t McCain got his way and the Bush tax cuts "for the rich" were not enacted.
Jeff, you worthless amnesty queens really stick together, don't you?
Flake is a real a-hole PING
A GoP asset .. or just another a$$hat?
Jeff Flake, just another libertarian, pseudo-fiscal responsibility, illegal alien lover.
Flake is pro-Illegal Alien/Anti-American....and works with that extreme Hispano-Racist Luis Guitterez to pass Illegal Alien Amnesty.
Anyone who supports Illegal Alien Amnesty wants to redistribute American-citizen wealth and give it to Third World lawbreakers and drug cartels.....you, Jeff Flake, support this.
Flake just helping another pro-illegal/anti-American bigot in John McCain....JD Hayworth stands in the way of Illegal Alien Amnesty
a) Americans don’t even know what an ‘earmark’ is.
b) McCain lost due to his mumbling about ‘earmarks’ which Americans don’t have a clue about.
Flake is an arrogant POS and he needs to go.
That’s not the spending that is killing us. It’s the gigantic redistributionist programs. The earmark issue is a red herring.
They are seriously frightened by J.D. Hayworth. Their internal polls must show them some bad news.
If that wasn’t clear, I agree with you.
All candidates have a weakness and JD time in the congress while the GOP was playing the Good ol boy game is JD’s. But as you point out, McCain has plenty of problems and I hope JD wins. However, if JD wins the Senate seat and returns to the Good ol boy way of Washington, I will very disappointed.
Don’t let your hatred for McCain blind you to the faults of JD Hayworth. It’s comical that Hayworth is treated as some kind of “white knight” just because he is primarying McCain.
If J.D. can pull it off and beat Ol' Yellowstain, I'll personally feed his warcharger for a month.
Compared to McCain, Hayworth IS the White Knight.
What's amusing is that, despite the sound and fury about them, porkbarrel spending and "earmarks" make up a tiny percentage of the federal budget. The problem is all the massive programs and "entitlement" spending - which McCain has been supportive of.
I can't understand why he is supporting McCain.
I love immigrants but I hate the bureaucracy, welfare and unenforced laws that allow them to be exploited. We should quickly let everyone in that are willing to work to become hard working, knowledgeable and loyal Americans that can speak and understand English.
I agree that most Americans are politically clueless, but McCain lost mostly because he's an arrogant, angry little RINO whose "war hero" status no longer carries the political capital it once did. I don't know which would have been worse for America, Obama's DEATH Care package or McCain's amnesty for 20 - 30 million illegal south and central American indigenous leeches. We looked to the Republican Party to save us from Obama's Marxism and they gave us John Freakin McCain, a tired old man who couldn't compete with Obama's energy, and who didn't really want to anyway. As i recall, it was this stupid, stubborn little moderate who told we conservatives not to even mention Obama's middle name or his paternal heritage of Islam and Communism. Hell, McAmnesty even condemned calling attention to Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright. screw him.
Agreed! I would say that both Obama and McCain gave birth for the need for the Tea Party. No Socialsim and no more RINOs!
Except for his wanting to legalize all the illegals which would piss away any savings from reigning in spending elsewhere by their demand for more government services.
And except for wanting to suspend his campaign to jet back to Washington to vote for Hank Paulson's TARP bailout, while his opponent was allowed to vote "present."
And except for his wanting to set up a whole new government bureaucracy to regulate political speech so his good media buddies could not be challenged for their one-sited reporting.
And except for wanting to support his good buddy Lindsey Graham on cap and trade until this annoying primary challenge surfaced.
And except for anything else which his media buddies and other handlers in George Soros front groups decide is a national emergency.
Other than those few exceptions, yes, he has been a good fiscal conservative.
Sorry Jeff but I’m not backing a back stabbing, reach across the aisle SOB.
