FV...I never like to correct a fellow FReeper...but its a labored, uber sympathetic to the locals ‘Pah-key-stahn.’
But somehow he managed to mess up with CoMinsky Field. Like Minskys coming together for the game.
So he says he lived near Conminsky Park, huh? Was that anywhere near Comiskey Park?
When he failed to name any White Sox players, they should have prompted him by suggesting Manny Ortiz as a player he might have liked.
;-)
Frank Thomas was a very well known player in the 90’s.
Or he could have just picked a current player, like Konerko.
Anybody. Geez.
Give the guy a break. Radio reception for White Sox broadcasts was really, really difficult in Nairobi.
I’m sure if anyone had the guts to call him on it he does not know anything about the Swingin’ A’s from the early 70’s either.
“Mr. President, what do you know about Rollie Fingers?”
“uhh....I know that if you’ve got it, my health care plan will definitely cover you”
Reminds me of John Kerry praising the Green Bay Packers playing at LAMBERT FIELD when any football fan knows they play at LAMBEAU FIELD. Some people pretend to be sports fans or knowledgeable of certain subjects, but then they can be exposed sometimes.
Obama knows nothing about baseball. He was never a real Sox fan or an Oakland A’s fan when growing up. Why go out of your way to try to pretend you are just like all the baseball fans at Opening Day??????
LOL!!
I went to Fenway Park for the first time in 1967 with the Malden National Little League. There had to be 200 of us. It was the “Impossible Dream Year”. We sat in the Right Field Grand Stands and drove Tony Conigliaro crazy. RETIRE #25 NOW!
I guess we should be happy he didn’t say Alinsky Field.
Dontcha think he put on the SOX hat to create a scapegoat for the boos.
It's a wonder he didn't call it (Noam) "Chomsky".
Did anyone else notice that he stepped on the foul ball line walking onto the field. A no-no for anyone that knows their baseball.
Obviously early in that year - wasn’t it July that Conig had his catastrophic injury in ‘67 ?
Later that day Kerry went to OHIO and praised the Wolverines.
LOL!
Obama has never heard of Chet Lemon and Harold Baines.
I’m older than obama, so he can’t blame age.
What would be worse: saying that he really didn’t follow baseball or that he said he followed baseball but couldn’t name a favorite player. As a St louis native, I still follow the cards and remember one of the first games I saw at Sportsman’s Park. The Cardinals executeda triple play against the Dodgers, with Wally Moon playing First Base.
