Rasmussen Reports has a new feature tracking media reports on Republican Gov. Rick Perry and Democratic nominee former Houston Mayor Bill White...
For the week ending Sunday, March 28, 2010, 79.5% of the media mentions for White were positive, and only 20.5% were negative. The details are not yet available, but Rasmussen plans next month to start breaking it down by reporting done by traditional media and by social networking. Since the left still dominates the social networks in Texas, this will be interesting to see if it makes a difference by breaking the numbers down...For Perry, during the same time frame, the coverage was far more mixed: 45.6% of the media mentions were positive, and 54.4% were negative.

Shocking! s/
Rasmussen must have received another call on the red phone. Ain’t gonna happen.
These media jerkoffs are engaging in a lotta wishful thinking if they think White (or any other Dim) is going to carry Texas this year. Maybe later but not yet.
In the peoples republic of Austin, where I joyfully reside, I see tons of Bill White yard posters in which I encourage my dog to ‘relieve’ himself on during our evening walks.
“Rasmussen must have received another call on the red phone. Aint gonna happen.”
What ain’t gonna happen? That the media ain’t gonna outragously slant coverage to favor White? Because that is what Rasmussen is reporting — that the media overwhelming provides more favorable coverage of White than Perry. Not that White is gonna beat Perry in the election.
From Rassmusen:
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state shows Perry leading White by six percentage points, 49% to 43%, in the governor’s race.
While the coverage of White has been more positive than Perrys coverage, the governor has had a much larger share of the coverage: During the seven days ending March 28, 2010, there were eight mentions of Perry for every mention of White. It is important to remember that the Media Meter measures all coverage, not just coverage related to the campaign
Ping
Freepmail me or ping me from the original thread to get on/off the 2010 Texas Governor's Race ping list.
Kay Bailey Hutchinson had all the newspapers supporting her, too. So what is new about this. We know the papers in Texas are for the liberals.
Actually the Austin American Statesman has been pretty “fair and balanced” this election cycle. They have a truth checker meter that reports if the candiates claims are true and accurate. They seem to be doing a decent job for both sides.
I live in Austin too, and the thing that still makes me shack my head every time, is seeing all the rich yuppies and retirees coming out of Circle C in southwest Austin with their Obama stickers on their cars, and my first comment is that they’re the first groups he’s going to go after.
You and I know that the purpose of the Texas media is to keep the people stupid.
they also have an overinflated belief that people believe anything they say or print.
Do you remember several years ago when the Comical was throwing free papers on the lawns of Houstonians?
They had to boost circulation figures somehow. And influence public opinion.
I saw a Comical earlier this month. It’s thinner than a small town (20,000 people) newspaper now.
Really! waste of good trees. /s
Daily newspapers are a waste of resources and an inefficient delivery method.
The news is 24-36 hours old by the time it sees print (whereas you can read those same articles online at the Comical or AP’s website “immediately”).
It’s old and getting “older” every hour before it hits your doorstep.
A weekly tabloid (or pull apart sections) would be a better business model in this day. Hardcopy journalism (print) is not dead and it’s good to have a physical archive of the events of the day.
Unfortunately, the fourth estate gave up journalistic objectivity long ago and doesn’t report half of the story anymore.
Well I prefer the truth. I would never consider the current Journalism as a true recorder of History.
Surprised?
Did anyone at all expect the socialist media to endorse a repub?
This isn’t endorsments, it is bias in reporting negative Rick Perry news and predominantly positive Bill White news.
