Adam Walsh murder revisited: The case against Jeffrey Dahmer
Miami Herald ^ | March 27, 2010 | David Smiley and Arthur Jay Harris

Posted on 03/29/2010 6:01:52 PM PDT by ConservativeStatement

Investigating one of the nation's most prominent unsolved murders, a Hollywood detective pitched softball questions and fed homemade muffins to a serial killer.

He asked: Did you kidnap freckled 6-year-old Adam Walsh from a Sears in 1981?

"Nothing to do with it,'' Jeffrey Dahmer answered, taking another muffin.

The word of Dahmer, a sociopath who stashed severed heads in his refrigerator, was instrumental in Hollywood police deciding he was not Adam's killer despite contradictory statements from two witnesses.

Wait a minute. I thought the young Walsh boy’s murder was pretty much linked to Ottis Toole.

That's mentioned in the text: In December 2008, Chief Chadwick Wagner called a press conference to say that deceased drifter Ottis Toole — long suspected but never prosecuted — had killed Adam. Adam's parents believed it and Broward prosecutors said Toole was the only valid suspect. Case closed.

That was my point.

Only because Toole ‘confessed’ to it. Just like he confessed to a ton of others that he had no link to.

Dahmer was in Florida at the time and had a ‘thing’ for decapitation. I’ve long wondered if it was Dahmer.

Wish they could’ve solved this, but then again I wish it never happened in the first place.

Whatever makes a monster like Jeffrey Dahmer?

If you read the whole story, you will see that EVERYONE is right.

Yes, Ottis Toole was the primary suspect.

Yet, there seem to be several reasons to have doubt.

Once the police ‘solved’ the case and got the media off their backs, they were reluctant to accept any info that would cause them to lose their ‘hold’ on the prime suspect.

The WHOLE article is worth reading.

I read the article. I am fully aware that there is some doubt about who killed the poor boy. Then again, there is still some doubt about who killed John Lennon (personally, I think the Chapman kid did it; but, who am I to judge, eh?)

Very distressing to read how badly that case was handled.

“Whatever makes a monster like Jeffrey Dahmer?”

Like John Wayne Gacy, he was a Democrat.

Hey, I think Chapman did it.

I don’t know how old you are, or where you were when John Lennon was shot, but for several weeks afterwards there were “theories” flying around that Chapman was a plant, that the CIA or FBI or some other nefarious group was behind it. All bullshit, mind you; but still floating around.

IIRC, one of the biggest arguments against Dahmer’s involvement in the Walsh case was the fact he wanted to be executed. If so, what better way to get his wish than confess to a murder in a death-penalty state (Florida)? But he steadfastly denied any connection to Adam.

What is possible is that Toole was identified because he hung out at the mall. It would make sense.

Dahmer could have shown up to target the video room and been the real culprit.

Likely, we will never know.

I think Dahmer would have admitted it if he had.

I agree. Dahmer became a Christian and was baptized in prison. (Although I think he was baptized as an infant.) He always said he deserved the death penalty—or to be murdered in prison.

odd about him but in interviews he acknowledged what a whack job he was.....it began per his lawyer with constant pornagraphy and masturbation several times a day...don’t mean to be gross but that is what the lawyer said....Dahmer had insatiable urges....
