Spot on. Further, if it ever came to Civil War (I don’t think it is anything remotely close to that at this point) the situation would likely be quite ambiguous for those actively serving in the military.
Stack on top of this the likely fact that the government may not be paying military pensions as promised, and in a time of duress may not even be sending paychecks that are worth what they are today, and one wonders what will happen.

The average private, corporal, buck sergeant is a public school graduate and knows dick about the Constitution. He will do what he’s told to do. If he has any doubts, they will disappear the first time someone wings a round in his direction.
