And you think the FedGov is going to just roll over and disappear? The biggest employer in the country, with the most guns, is just going to say, “Okay Central Va, you’re right. We’re dissolving so you can run your own states without us. Have a nice day.”

That is delusional thinking.

No, I think there would be a Civil War II, a very conventional WW I type war with modern weapons. Not a guerrilla war with ethnic cleansing and such, but the real thing. Much bigger than anyone can imagine.

Democracy? We are not a democracy and I hate when people are so clearly demonstrating their ignorance without being called on it.

We live in a constitutional republic. We vote for people to represent our views in Congress.

In Vermont they still have the democratic practice of town meetings. But those places are small enough to handle a democracy. Even so, they elect selectmen to handle the day to day stuff.

Before anyone listens to someone talking about a civil war, we should be sure they know WHERE they are living and the form of government they are living under.

The GOP winning in november won’t change anything whatsoever.

We are on an unsustainable path economically and I fear the damage and destruction is already too far gone for one election cycle to make any difference.

My biggest fear right now is not the reaction of the govt, but of our fellow citizens who are so brainwashed, so dumbed down, so ignorant and uneducated, that they will easily accept whatever chains and slavery the govt imposes.
Just go to any large public gathering and look around! Do you guys really think we as a people are prepared for civil unreast or cw? NO! Maybe some are, but most are wholly dependent on the govt as it is and will fold the second the welfare, ss, medicare, ue, wic, section 8, benes are threatened.

Did it ever dawn on anyone here that the real purpose of all this socialist bs abd welfare spending is nothing more than riot control and keeping the savages at bay? Think about it.

“... that is my choice. I will not capitulate or compromise.”

+1 on this. A lot of people on this thread are crunching numbers and finding (perhaps real) ratios of us to them that they like but it all comes down to the core of the INDIVIDUAL, for whom there is a line not to be crossed and a God in His heaven.

Let’s fill in the blanks between “Bonus Army” and “Army fired on unarmed civilians.”

The Bonus marchers had been infiltrated by communists, “red flag wavers” and anarchists. These rabal rousers had occupied federal buildings under construction. DC called in the police to evict them, and the communists met them with bottles, rocks, bricks and small arms fire. Many police were injured and one died.

After that, the army was called in to remove them. Today, we’d probably cheer that action. The incident has been much maligned by leftists and used by the federal fascists in Washington to scare Americans into believing that the military will be used to kill you if you don’t obey. It’s a nice bogeyman.

The period between 1910 and 1935 was lovingly called the “progressive era” by the communists. During this period, America experienced bombings, shootings and violent strikes, all in an attempt to overthrow our government.

I place the blame for it on the millions of proto-Marxists from Europe that were allowed entrance to America by lax immigration policies from 1890 to 1920.

One problem Jey Cee, is that the American public is well armed. The other is that we are a big, populous country with terrain and infrastructure quite different than any on the world. Another is that a sigificant portion of the population is ex-military, especially in the rural areas. We are educated and used to being free. That creates alot of problems for the military.

Our military doctrine as I understand it more or less boils down to maintaining supply lines and close air support. In a true civil war you’d be dispersing a military across a huge territory that would be against an armed populace and outnumbered 1,000 or more to 1. Containment or concentration of force is difficult when you are surrounded on all sides and outnumbered. Quite the contrary, there will be no where for them to run or hide.

The military has only so many aircraft able to run so many sorties and cover so much ground. There would be many many military units out there with no air support and no supply lines. You wouldn’t be able to say ‘we’re going to attack this town today, put our forces here’ because the enemy is all around you. Too many vectors of attack, a total logistical hellhole. Think Somalia.

They can stay secure on their bases and venture out from time to time, but that just gives us time and makes us stronger. We can just wait for them to make the first move. We can be very calculating too. Understand too that this won’t be a one way game. Atrocities committed will be atrocities returned. The American people will play dirty if the military gets dirty.

You can bomb and spread WMD, but from the govt perspective that’s just destroying the tax base. Look how much it cost to keep troops in Iraq. It will be far more expensive here because they will have to be spread out. But when that happens, at some point the governors and states are going to get into it, if the atrocities get too bad. Then you got nat’l guards in the game against the feds. They can militiaize their entire able bodied populace.

No, it will never be the same after that. It will never be the same if we have a dictator either. Doesn’t matter how the line is crossed in that regard.

Bottom line - a civil war scenario has never existed like the one we are envisioning here. I hope Obama and his goons have calcuated correctly. It might not be the cakewalk he imagines.

Actually the article got so many hits from FR, and the comments were so numerous - over 800 - and so nonsupportive that he yanked it.

He must have thought that people who disagree with him wouldn’t find out about his essay. Ho ho.

You can also read Pvt. Pyle’s response.

It turns out that this little essay got a lot of coverage yesterday after it appeared on newsvine. It began to go viral through a lot of Lib and mil blogs.

And the traffic from, and comments of, Free Republic readers was so heavy that the original post got pulled by the writer!

It is unconstitutional for the members of the military to take up arms against U.S. Citizens.

Any military member who did so would be committing treason.

I hope some of you heed my words and cool the rhetoric and focus on achieving your goals diplomatically instead of physically. It would never want to receive a frag order to Maryland, or North Dakota, or Texas, but it is an order I will follow no matter how much it pains me to do so.

But he gets a few dissenting comments on his blog and he pulls the post.

That, and getting called on the BS.

On that I agree. That is the goal of Obama - bringing America down so that the center of world power can shift. We have enough debt right now that we are past the point of no return. It just takes a little flick to push us over the edge.
