...To those calling for a civil war, this Marine wants you to stop, and think...
newsvine.com ^ | Mar 26 2010 | Sgt C USMC

Posted on 03/27/2010 12:59:55 PM PDT by worst-case scenario

It's been said that the military is always preparing for war. That is true. We prepare for combat every day. We ran 5 miles today to the rifle range and shot nearly 200 rounds a piece at targets and then ran back. However, we also pray for peace. I would love one day to be completely unnecessary. But alas, I am a realist, and I know that day will never come.

The headlines of the last week have reminded me more of glimpsing at the S2 Daily Briefing Sheets while in theater or the Al-Jazeera than the NY Times or the Washington Post. Think about that for a moment, let it sink in.

Before I get into the main premise of this article - I need to make two statements here.

First and foremost , when it comes to the back and forth of who did what to whom and why - I don't give a @!$%#. It doesn't change the action. In life we're judged by our actions, nothing more, nothing less. One of the greatest things of the military is when it comes to an enemy, the politics behind the situation - don't matter in accomplishing that mission. For the military , life is simple in that regard.

Secondly, Regardless of your political ideology, you've earned the right as US Citizens to say your piece - no matter how wrong it may be. That is your right, and I will give my life to protect it.

Good post my friend. The Marines I know would never follow a socialist like Obama if he is trashing the constitution and wanting to attack his opposition.

That's true. But the government side would have to increase its ranks by a factor of six drawing mostly from the liberal left. They would have to supply most of them their arms. A force of six million on the other side would soon be able to appropriate a lot of hardware from their side. Or foreign arms suppliers.

But I think that kind of action is academic when you have tens of millions of civilians, who look and act like all the other civilians, serving tea and coffee and every other supply under the sun to the gov forces. I think their supplies would begin to run short rather rapidly and what they did get would be a mixed-bag Russian roulette assortment of goods.

I think life in the military would lose its appeal when a goodly number of guys started getting letters from home that said "Don't ever come home. I mean it! Love Mom and Dad."

ANY misguided Marine or soldier who would fire on American citizens as this pea brain boasts he would do, would soon find out he's fighting a whole different people with whole different motivations and skills than he is accustomed to fighting. There never was a war more bloody or vicious in US History than the American Civil War.

Despite all his bravado, the despicable little toad who crapped this Kill-'em-all-for-Obama piece of verbal excrement didn't even have the courage to leave it posted.

It'll be ignorant jackasses like him who start the war, but it'll be the tens of millions of God-fearing, Constitution-respecting well-armed Americans he fires on who will finish it.

You, personally, were the reason that SGT C has pulled his post. Do you have any idea how many FReepers are ex-military, and how many are Marines? You have over 300 replies on this thread alone, and Marines tend to be a really, tight, group.......

If you scale up the last Civil War to today, each Army would have 6-8 MILLION men in each, which would dwarf current force structure.

A little math might be illustrative. In my state (WA) there are about 6,000,000 civilians and 8,000 guardsmen. Given a 6 hour sleep rotation, that leaves 6,000 guardsmen at any given time. That's a 1000:1 ratio of civilians to guardsmen. Draw what conclusions you will.

In order for active duty personnel to become involved, you'd have to have a multi-state, full blown insurrection. Then the ratio decreases, but is still very large.

Well then I am glad that the people who have some knowledge and some opposing opinion got to weigh in on the ideas expressed.

Am I supposed to feel bad that “SgtC USMC” got so much attention he had to yank the post?

NO. *Happy Dance*

I believe that you’re right. He may well be unpleasantly surprised to find that the vast majority of his fellow Marines (if he actually is one)will be siding with Americans against tyranny.

I still have the page up on my browser but my doggoned Fireshot screen capture tool refuses to do anything. I don’t know if it matters anyway. I’m sure someone else saved it if it does. I grabbed the text of his post in a word doc.

If you break it down red/blue a lot of manufacturing is in the red states. Especially fighter aircraft. Small arms goes to blue. Shipyards red. Tanks blue. Tanks are a big problem for red. If red has the better Navy then tanks can be purchased abroad. If Ohio breaks red (or is overrun by red), then tanks go red.

He probably didn’t even know where the term Redneck comes from. I am one and proud of.

"If I felt an order was illegal, I could protest in writing -- but only after that order had been carried out to the letter. It was up to higher headquarters to determine what was illegal, not me."

We enlisted combat soldiers were each taught several times early in initial training to disobey unlawful orders.

"I don't know what the rules are now, but I don't see people questioning orders or disobeying them."

That's because they haven't arrived at the predetermined (among themselves) situation to be remedied. In many units, a misplaced frat brat commander and a couple of socially pathological platoon sergeants won't get away with issuing orders to murder otherwise law-abiding fellow Americans involved in any constitutional crisis. Those trained to do the actual fighting know who they are and what's going on in advance. They aren't always wanting to live forever, and there's not always confusion between right and wrong.

While I understand the post-er's point, he seems to be ignoring which side is actually shredding the Constitution. Not to mention many of the false claims being made by others in that thread, like Bachmann and Palin inciting for a revolution. And as we now know, the Lewis/Carver incidents were fabricated, yet people posting at this Newsvine thread still act as if it happened. Honestly, some troubling comments coming from those that are supposed to protect us.

The more I think of it the more I think that this bogus article is an attempt to get us on the right to not trust our military. Aint gonna happen. It is the left that hates the military. We won’t fall for this crap.
