So, we couldn’t have come up with a better plan? If she seriously thinks this is the best thing that they could have come up with, then I’m surprised she ever ran a business for any length of time.

Well Senator, you say you used ‘good budgeting with good management’ while running your small business. Did you ever pay a vendor for 4 years before they rendered any meaningful service?

That was the approach I brought to Congress a year and a half ago: weigh costs with results, and make decisions based on the facts, not politics.

The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that the compromise measure the House passed on Sunday costs $940 billion, more than $100 billion less than the House-passed bill.

It reduces the deficit by more than $1.3 trillion in the next two decades. It will be the single largest deficit-reduction bill in 27 years.

Sure. It might do that...but only if one were stupid enough to believe the CBO estimates.

Of course, nobody who is actually capable of running a successful business enterprise would be that dumb, though.

So, I guess we know why Betsy Markey went from being an independent business person to being a member of Congress. She longed for the freedom from fiscal reality characteristic of members of Congress.

And she used to 'crunch numbers'? She's in for rude awakening when the numbers start crunching her instead.

Yeah, OPM does that to people. Good observation.

I know this has angered people on the left as well as the right. Frankly, I take that as a sign that I am doing my job.

That old saw gets really old, and is used by people of all persuasions: people on both sides of the issue are unhappy, so it must mean I'm doing the right thing. Or, maybe it means you're a complete dumbass. The fact that people on both sides are unhappy proves nothing. This is any empty-headed argument that gets thrown around far too much.

Weighed as a business decision??? I imagine Betsy’s business quickly went under.

lets see, it won't effect her taxes, her health care plan, or her pay; it will get her more votes from the misguided masses that typically vote dem; she got political bribes; seiu support... heck, from her personal point of view, its actually a good business decision. she personally benefits very well... but nevermind how it will effect the people!

What BS. Did she read it? Does she know what she is voting for? Does she disapprove of the methods that brought this madness into being? I'll take a wild ass guess and say no. Obama doesn't care about ‘the process’ why should she? The Constitution and the will of the people be damned. “We're doing this for your own good.”

Because if you weren't doing your job, both groups would be happy. Right?

I'd rather be a good representative and leave the politics to the politicians.

Dumb and smug. What a combination.
