Republicans Use Objections to Stall Senate Hearings, Force Votes on Health Care 'Fixes'

Republicans used a procedural move Wednesday to halt hearings in the Senate and force Democrats to vote on a series of politically dicey matters relating to the health care "fixes" sent over by the House this week.

Senate Republicans said they would insist that no committee meet after 11 a.m., two hours after the Senate gaveled in on Wednesday. The objection was used as part of the "two-hour rule," a formality that requires unanimous consent for the Senate to meet two hours after the chamber has come into session.

Good! Since the Dems managed to get this done by procedural flim-flammery (combined with bribery), we can at least hold it up through procedure, even if we don’t have the money for bribery!

Senate GOP Trying To Scuttle “Repeal It” Amendment
Senate sources confirm to me this evening that Senator Mitch McConnell and his leadership team are trying to scuttle Republican efforts to force a vote on repeal of the entire health care legislation during the reconciliation process. I’m told reliably that moderate Republican senators who voted against Obamacare in December do not want to vote against it again because it would just be “symbolic”. McConnell agrees and is not inclined to push Republicans to go along with any effort to force a vote on repeal during reconciliation, despite David Vitter offering up an amendment to do just that and separate stand alone legislation being offered by Senator Jim DeMint with a host of Republican co-sponsors.

How about adding this "fix":

Remove ALL exemptions for everyone. Force the Administration, Congress and their entire staff onto Obamacare.

And get on the News every night the stall or fight this measure. Make sure the American people are reminded daily that they have created a two class society.

That would be perfect. Of course the GOP won't support that either. None of the politicians will accept the crap sandwich they want to force down every one elses throat

Does this sum up the problem with the Republican Leadership or what?

Why is Mitch McConnell such a wimp?

Because most elected republicans are whimps... the leadership rises to the top when they become superwhimps.

IOW, they must be up for re-election.
So much for fighting the good fight.

What pisses me off the the threats that the Republicans promised that they would scuttle all portions of the reconciliation effort. It looks like they will have zero success.

You should NEVER make a threat unless you are capable of carrying them out.
