But moving the herd of fat sheep that is the current crop of Americans isn’t going to be easy.

I wouldn’t waist my time on it right now. Until the thick-headed wimps feel the pain of what is coming they’ll just taunt you with “wolverines” or some such BS.
They need to simmer in the commies’ pain stew for at least a couple of more years.
The difference today is that we have a law enforcement and criminal justice system that are FAR better armed (and infinitely better organized) than the citizenry, and whose goal is to keep order no matter what. Until that changes, I don’t see much resisting going on.
