This kind of bumbling stupidity is why I have a longstanding policy of marking any areas where non-emergency surgery is to be performed with a black indelible marker indicating what IS and what IS NOT the correct areas for the doctor to work on.
There’s no way a doctor is going to approach my scrotum with intent to perform surgery without a well defined DO NOT TOUCH zone in place.

I had to write NO! on one leg and yes on the other.

Two weeks ago I had a breast mass removed. From the time I walked into the hospital until the actual surgery I had to answer the same questions over and over including my birth date, what I was having done and which side. When the surgeon came in she had to sign my right shoulder with a black marker before I was rolled into the op room.
These mistakes are easily avoided.

When I went in for carpal tunnel surgery, they used a marker to mark what hand was to be done and had me verify that that was what I understood and was expecting to have operated on.
If it helps prevent mistakes, they can write on me all they want.
