So do I, and I believe in God. Conservatism isn't a religion - it's basic common sense.
I don't have to invoke God to want to stop insane lunatics from bashing holes in the bottom of my boat while claiming it will make it float better.
“I don’t have to invoke God to want to stop insane lunatics from bashing holes in the bottom of my boat while claiming it will make it float better.”
Amen!
Stand for the rights of man, boys.
Stand against all tyranny.
Hang the of light of freedom, boys,
High on the Liberty Tree...
The reconciliation and “deeming rule” can be used by Republicans as well as democrats. If that is what must be done to unwind this horror, then this is what should be done and let the people decide which Party they want to back.
The worst thing to do would be nothing.
First of all, they DO get it. Wake up. Don't be a zek, who as he fades into death from starvation and hypothermia, murmurs with his last breath, "If only Stalin knew..."
Second of all, who gives a sh*t about "the world"? The world doesn't care about us, the world WANTS us to fall.
This is a US problem, for us to solve.
You are right, if it doesn’t pass. If it passes, then the body politic, for all practical purposes, has accepted it, because a new entitlement will be very hard to repeal.
I agree with you to a point. The puppet masters that are pulling the strings know what they're doing...but I've met many of the rank and file and most of them are uneducated and intellectually incapable of grasping the fact that their strings are being pulled or even that they have strings. The average progressive is like a Pinocchio who doesn't even grasp there are strings above their heads, so they are unable to even formulate the desire to be a real boy.
Second of all, who gives a sh*t about "the world"? The world doesn't care about us, the world WANTS us to fall. This is a US problem, for us to solve.
Again, I agree with you that it is an US problem to solve. The fact still remains that the world is interconnected, and the end result of the demise of America will be a blow to more than just America. Rather the world realizes it or not is immaterial...although that belief is inaccurate as well...at least if you befriend people from other cultures and nations and catch them in unguarded moments. America is more than a symbol for good, it is a creator of good as well.
I think the Democrats voting “yes” are composed of two large groups, and a smaller one.
Group #1 are Marxist-Leninist revolutionaries. Their operative motto is, “the worse, the better”. There are probably 70-100 of them.
Group #2 are “representatives” of the parasite class. Their voters are net recipients of tax dollars. They’re the ones who are having press conferences with cancer patients and amputees. Their operative motto is, “we have to do SOMETHING”. There are probably 100 of them. They know, most of them, that Obamacare will do nothing for their parasite voters, but they also know their parasite voters are stupid and will reward them for “doing something”, or for “fighting for them”.
Group #3 are the bribetakers. There is a representative from Tennessee who voted “no” last time who is a space aficionado, an astronaut wannabe. He’s been promised (allegedly) that he will be named NASA administrator. Not all the bribetakers are yet revealed, and, of course, the definition of an “honest politician” is one who stays bought - so we won’t know the size of this group until they vote tomorrow.
