Bill to Opt Out of Health Care Passes (Georgia)
WSB Radio Atlanta ^ | March 18, 2010 | Sandra Parrish

(WSB Radio State Capitol Bureau) -- A day after Democrats in the State Senate narrowly defeat a proposed constitutional amendment to allow Georgians to opt out of the federal health care plan, Senators vote to reconsider the measure and pass a similar bill that would do the same thing.

Sen. Judson Hill is the sponsor of both measures. Senate Bill 317 passed on a vote of 31-16.

"While I would have preferred to let Georgians vote to have their rights protected in the State Constitution, this legislation will protect Georgians in a similar way," he says.

Hudson says the bill, if passed, could be challenged in court whereas it would be more difficult to overturn a constitutional amendment.

"The last 24 hours I've received hundreds of calls and emails from people all over Georgia asking us to do one thing and that's to stand up to defend their rights... SB 317 does just that," he says.

The bill now goes the House.

Unfortunately we’ll not be able to opt of the onerous federal taxes that will pay for it.

Right now our bill is stalled in the Alabama State House. I think I know why (both houses controlled by RATs).

But still, I would encourage all Georgia FReepers to get on the phones and contact their state rep. Tell them to vote YES on SB317!

Tenn. is winding it’s way through the legislature now.

We have basketball on our local talk station tonight.

Rally your local talk radio host into doing street protest in front of your reps local offices. Try and get the local media to cover it. Hammer the Medicare/SS issue, nothing like mad grannies and gramps.

This is from a 2007 contact list of congressional aides. Some might not be there any longer, but worth a try. The ones on the one post are senate aides, a few have bounced back, it’s worth the effort to clog up their email system along with the phones, and 1/3rd of these senators are up for re-election.

Mail must be inspected for anthrax.

Contact congressional aides.

They offer specifics and links on how to put pressure on Dem DONORS, who have private numbers for legislators who may have taken their phones off the hook.

Remember they are all being offered BRIBES for their votes. Ask them how much their bribe price is.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

What I’d like to see would be a law that would declare certain federal actions to be illegitimate, that the Supreme Court has no authority to declare unconstitutional actions legitimate, and any Supreme Court decisions claiming to do so are void; and call for the arrest and prosecution of federal personnel who engage in the forbidden actions. Such a law could also note that such personnel should be presumed to be a very high flight risk, and very dangerous; any and all force necessary may be used to prevent them from escaping or being ‘broken out’.

every state that passes a similar bill:

a) means another upcoming supreme court challenge
b) another step toward a constitutional convention on the manner
c) another step toward states revolting against Washington.

One thing I can say about our republican representatives here in Georgia - they are the cream of the crop. I, for one, will actively campaign for Tom Price on a national level because he’s not a RHINO, he is a REAL conservative. Georgia will come through, no doubt. Yeah for Georgia!
