Muslims seeking female clerk can ‘line up again’ (in Quebec)

MONTREAL -- In recent years, the few fully veiled Muslim women who had dealings with Quebec's health-insurance board could choose to be served by a woman to avoid exposing their faces to a man outside their family.

But in the latest example of the province's growing resistance to the accommodation of minority religious practices, the insurance board on Tuesday announced the end of the policy after the provincial human rights commission said it has no duty to acquiesce.

"From now on, for a woman who is veiled with a niqab or a burka and comes to our office asking to be photographed by a woman, the answer is no," said Marc Lortie, spokesman for the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec. "Line up again, or come back another day."

The news follows last week's expulsion from a French-as-a-second-language course of an Egyptian woman who insisted on wearing a niqab during class. It was the second school Naema Ahmed was expelled from for wearing the full face covering, which leaves only a slit for the eyes. Authorities at the first school had said her teacher was unable to properly assess her pronunciation without seeing her mouth.

Quebec's Immigration Department said she could not continue her studies while wearing the niqab.

"If you want to integrate into Quebec society, here are our values," Immigration Minister Yolande James told reporters last week. "We want to see your face." Ms. Ahmed has filed a complaint with the Quebec Human Rights Commission.

After the health-insurance board sought its expertise on the niqab issue, the rights commission published its opinion on Monday that requiring a veiled woman to briefly expose her face to a male employee is not a significant breach of her rights.

Ms. Ahmed has filed a complaint with the Quebec Human Rights Commission... ------------------ 6 It´s allways "amazing" to see how muslims love our systems. How they are willing to battle for their "human rights" love freedom of speech, expect our tolerance... At least as long as it fits their needs. Of course if not you usually get a "little" different reaction from them.

I’m with you on this! Good for Quebec for having enough cajones to stand up for the fact that when you move to a foreign country you need to assimilate into THEIR culture, not the other way around!

If we moved to the Middle East we’d be expected to follow their laws and customs or find ourselves in jail.

Amazing.

The notion that God screwed up so royally in creating the human race that half of all people have to walk around wrapped up like mummies to avoid inflaming the passions of the other half...what a preposterous idea.

Oh, yeah. When 25% of the men have 75% of the women...

"If you want to integrate into Quebec society, here are our values,...."

Substitute "American" for "Quebec" and make it the law of thE land. Also encourage EVERY free nation to do likewise. The practice of these people using our own freedoms against us must be ended NOW!

Our Constitution is NOT a suicide note.

What many in the infidel world don’t realise is that Muslims, by default, view non-Muslims as doomed and inferior. When the latter’s courtesy accommodates the former, it is not viewed with gratitude, but rather, as a reinforcement of their presumed superiority.

There must be widespread, open and public debate on the backwardness and spiritual inferiority of Islam, just so that these pompous, smug bastards know their true place in the annals of humanity.

Otherwise, it will be a slow war of attrition, with our side ending up losing.

“standing in line at the insurance counter” is the line that we should be afraid of...a foreshadowing of our future under Obamacare?

Hmmmmm......tough choice....... Inflexible Muslims, or inflexible government bureaucrats? Hmmmmm.....

I don't really think that there are any losers, here. :-)

I put my money on the Mooselimbs. Liberal bureaucrats will wet themselves and roll over like a scolded puppy at the first sign of trouble.
