How the FCC Plans to Tax the Internet (Tax the Internet? Congress Says, Great Idea.)
Stop eTaxes ^ | 3/17/2010 | Kelly William Cobb

First, the plan expressly calls for a digital goods tax:

Recognizing that state and local governments pursue varying approaches to raising tax revenues, a national framework for digital goods and services taxation would reduce uncertainty and remove one barrier to online entrepreneurship and investment. (pg. 58)

Instead, how about “not enacting a tax would remove one barrier to online entrepreneurship and investment”? To date, 18 states have enacted laws to tax digital goods and services, like downloaded music, books, and ringtones, within their own borders. A national framework could amount to spreading this nationwide, permitting all states to begin taxing digital goods and even allowing states to collect taxes on e-commerce made across their borders (something currently deemed unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court in Quill v. North Dakota)...

Taxing purchases over the internet is not really outrageous. The selling goods and services is taxable in all but 5 states (Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon). When you buy something you pay tax.

Income is taxed in all states except 7 (Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. Additionally, New Hampshire and Tennessee limit their state income taxes to only dividends and interest income)

I believe Americas are comfortable with the idea of paying tax on their purchases. I believe it is outrageous to have an income tax.

Paying tax on purchases out of state shipped to me is not an onerous burden. Income tax is the onerous burden.

When doing my taxes last year, there was a question about declaring and paying taxes on out of state purchases.

Don’t tax goods and services bought over the Internet, unless the vendor has a bricks and mortar presence in the state the goods are sent to. That is the present system and should not be changed. States already get sales taxes from Internet sites connected to Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Sears, etc as those merchants have local stores in all the states or most of the states.

What the states want is to also tax purchases from vendors not located in their state and that is wrong. If I go to another state and buy from a merchant there, why should my home state get a bite? Taxes are the death of our economy and I say resist any tax increase or tax expansion. We need to roll back taxes and starve government.

I understand the brick and mortar stores and agree wholeheartedly.

I am not tied-to-the-hip with taxing out-of-states stores that have no physical presence (brick and mortar) in the state being shipped to. However, with the growth of the internet almost anyone has a presence these days where someone can see their ‘site’ around the globe.

All I’m trying to say is that I would rather pay tax on my purchase of goods from wherever than to pay an income tax. With the loss of revenue the states are now either income tax or sales tax rates as well as property tax rates.

Personally it is less of a bite with the sales tax and I actually have something to show for it.

Bella Hess court case started it and I do not believe it will end in a pretty fashion. The federal moratorium will be the first thing to sunset by Congress (as opposed to other misbegotten laws that were passed or agencies created). Cause once they do it will give the Feds something more to tax also.

This is from a 2007 contact list of congressional aides. Some might not be there any longer, but worth a try.

Remember they are all being offered BRIBES for their votes. Ask them how much their bribe price is.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

Congressional Dems on Twitter

And here are toll-free numbers we can use to call any Senators or Reps.

At the first number below you must wait through a tape recording urging you to tell your Rep or Senator to vote “yes” for the health care bill. Just hang on and when the recording is over, you will get the Capitol operator. Just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Then you will either talk to an aid or have the chance to leave a message for him/her to vote NO on the health care bill.

When you use the second number and the Capitol operator comes on, just ask for your Rep or Senator’s office. Every time I use this number I get the Rep or Senator’s answer machine, so it may be set up that way all the time...to go to their answer machine. Either way you can leave a message to vote NO on the health care bill!

We need to use these toll free numbers that have been set up for the health care/ BO supporters and illegals to use! After all they are FREE!
