La Raza Not Optimistic About Health Bill (Could illegals sink ObamaCare?)

Eric Rodriguez, vice president of the National Council of La Raza, the nation’s top Hispanic advocacy group, told IBD that he was not optimistic that the House Democratic leadership and the Obama administration would include the changes that the Congressional Hispanic Caucus is seeking to the health care bill.

That would make it a tough vote for the mostly liberal caucus. All 23 of its House members supported the House health bill in November, but that has since been replaced by a Senate-written version that limits participation by illegal immigrants in the health insurance exchanges the bill would create.

The caucus met privately with President Obama late last week to warn they could not support the Senate bill without changes.

Rodriguez told IBD that, while the final language hasn’t been made public yet, what they have heard so far from the administration is that it would be “very, very hard” to include the changes the caucus wants.

“There are not a lot of reasons to be optimistic at this stage of the game,” he said. “We haven’t gotten a lot of positive signals that the issues that we have been raising (will be addressed).”

My definition of 'divine intervention' would be if the illegal alien loving La Raza actually got the CHC (Congressional Hispanic Caucus) to kill the bill. The illegals are starting to realize that Obama talks the talk, but does not walk the walk on their behalf.

Between CBO not giving their scam a good score, to the CHC demanding ObamaCare for illegals, to the Stupak gang of 12 or so, it appears Pelosi/Reid/Obama may be trying to bail out a boat full of holes below the waterline. I only hope the SS ObamaCare sinks before they can drag it over the finish line.

I also think that the reason no final reconciliation language has come out is that they want to do the last minute dump and vote scam they always try to pull. Dump the language and vote the next day before anyone has a chance to read what is in the bill. This time that will NOT fly with the public. The Rat Congresscritters who are wavering will not allow that to happen.

I know it’s like choosing between cancer or AIDS, but I think I’d rather have ObamaCare than Obamentesty. It’d be a lot easier to reverse than Amnesty.

It’s a lousy deal for non-citizens. No more 24/7 access to emergency room care.

I don’t buy the Hispanic Caucus going against Obamacare! They know vengeance will be taken upon them by the rest of the Democrat party.

I think to the contrary, they are feeling their oats and like they are on the verge of taking over the Democrat Party.

More like a choice between dying for five years in pain....or five minutes from a hangman’s noose or a drug cartel bullet from the Hispanic Ku Klux Klan.....yeah ObamaCare scares me less than Illegal Alien Amnesty....remember we have a lot Liberal RINOs who are pushing Illegal Alien Amnesty....so yes it would be easier to overturn ObamaCare if it passes.....

There are only 23 right now. In the future they will have a lot of power, but not now.

What makes you think that will change at all?

He may be looking at the future of Shamnesty. A majority of Americans are just as passionate about stopping Amnesty for Illegals as they are on the Obamacare issue. Poor widdle La Waza is probably realizing their dream of citizenship is going down the same mudhole as this. America has found its voice, and the supporters of these ludicrous liberal proposals are finding out its THEY who are in minority.
