The original HMO was an $8+ Bn shift from doctors/hospital wealth to ‘insurance’ and clerks, with HMO CEOs pulling in millions upon millions. You went to the doc, paid, and filed the paperwork yourself. But it was muscling in on doctors by lawyers.
