Some online retailers already collect taxes in VA, like Underarmour, Nike, and Neiman’s.
Heck, Amazon already collects sales taxes for Virginia, if the item you buy is from their Target.com partner.
So Amazon doesn’t ALWAYS dump their affiliates to “protect their customers” from “evil sales taxes” — only when it’s in Amazon.com’s interest to make a point.
Virginia and other states are trying to do what COlorado did, and Amazon is still trying to scare states out of doing this. But when the 25th state does it, Amazon will have lost so many affiliates that they’ll change their position. After all, Amazon affiliates is NOT a charity program — Amazon did it because it made them money.
