LOS ANGELES -- NFL Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen died this morning, the St. Louis Rams have confirmed. He was 69.

Actually, not for a former NFL player. I read somewhere that the average career for an NFL player is less than 3 years....while the average life expectancy for an NFL player is 10 years less than the national average.

Either way...prayers for his friends and family.

Yes it is sad. However, this is probably about 15 years longer than the average life span of an NFL lineman.
