Here's what I knew about our jobs crisis: Unemployment is at 9.7%, and almost fifty percent of the unemployed have been without a job for half a year. What I didn't know was how different the jobless ranks are today compared to the last great recession of the early 1980s. Ryan Avent of the Economist points me to a chart from Calculated Risk and explains some scary things:

That’s no chart...that’s the ‘Job Loss Tsunami’ hitting us dead on!
Are you looking for a job?

This is working out perfectly for the far leftists who seized the democrat party:
Crush the spirits of a sizable population of Americans, in order to convert them into government dependents of the All Powerful And Giving State.
American cities full of bustling factories and factory workers has been replaced with welfare moms spitting out welfare crack babies while walking past bombed-out-looking factories and junkyards.
Just look at Detroit. The welfare plantation.
This has been going on since the 1960’s.
More like NAFTA, thank you bill clinton........spit!
What was it Ross Perot said: “NAFTA will be a giant sucking sound of jobs out of this country........” something like that.
As one who thought he was retired, until, DumBO and the Fascicratic Party took over, I don’t know how I get counted into the unemployed stats. But, how do you create jobs when your energy, environmental and labor policies do everything to encourage moving jobs elsewhere.
at 2 minutes and 43 seconds: "This is a good deal for our country." Al Gore
easy, you increase the size of government and tax the shiite out of everyone lucky enough to have a job.
But how many jobs has NAFTA cost the US? It seems to me that the jobs did not go to Mexico which is what was feared. The jobs went to China.
And on that note, I’m coming in for an interview tomorrow. Thank you Diana!!!!!
I knew you’d get your foot in the door at the very least. Good for you! :)
Perot’s closing arguments in a debate with Clinton & Bush #1:

He forecast our future back in 1992. *SIGH*
EXCUSE THE ALL-CAPS, BUT...
AMERICA HAS TO REALIZE THAT THE “ECONOMY” WE EXPERIENCED FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS WAS “FAKE”.
IT WAS FUELED BY DEBT, NOT BY ACTUAL WEALTH CREATION.
IT WAS NOT JUST A HOUSING BUBBLE, IT WAS AN “EVERYTHING” BUBBLE... INCLUDING A JOBS BUBBLE.
IT HAS BURST. IT WAS NOT REAL. THOSE FAKE JOBS ARE GONE.
WE KILLED OUR “REAL” JOBS ENGINE WITH A 60,000 PAGE TAX CODE, TOO HIGH TAXES, TOO MANY LAW SUITS AND TOO MANY REGULATIONS DURING THE BOOM TIMES.
WE DIDN’T REALIZE THE DAMAGE THAT WE WERE DOING (THE DAMAGE THAT THE GOV’T, UNIONS AND SPECIAL INTERESTS WERE DOING) BECAUSE WE PAPERED OVER THE DAMAGE WITH DEBT AND FAKE “SERVICE SECTOR” JOBS DURING THE BOOM.
IF WE WANT JOBS BACK... REAL JOBS... WE HAVE TO BECOME “BUSINESS FRIENDLY” AGAIN AND ATTRACT EMPLOYERS AND COMPANIES BACK TO THIS NATION.
ANY OTHER GOV’T TINKERING OR NON-MARKET DRIVEN CRAP IS JUST GOING TO DIG US INTO A DEEPER HOLE.
Thanks for letting me vent.
“Thanks for letting me vent.”
Good vent! :)
Good rant. I started emerging from the fog awhile ago. Count the number of US workers you know that actually produce something, not service something.
THAT is a very good rant.
Thank you for posting it.
Copy that. I worked 19 years for a major manufacturer of fire alarm signals and voice evac systems. Lost my job exactly one year ago.
In the three years leading up to my termination, my company shifted a huge portion of our manufacturing to China and Mexico. The reason was simple: 1/3 of the labor costs as compared to the high union wages and benefits here in the US.
Unions have forced US manufacturers right out of the market-and the One World Globalists (read: Communists) succeeded by tearing down the barriers (NAFTA, etc) thus allowing wealth re-distribution on a worldwide scale.
Ok...true to a point.
But, let me get this straight:
If our unions would negotiate for the same dollar-a-day wage & benefit packages that China forces on its slave-laborers, we’d be able to keep our jobs here in the US ?
Be my guest...
