Noonan has been all over the map in recent years, I think she's been increasingly incoherent, but I think her praising Obama at the beginning only to hammer him later is a deliberate tactic used by many in the press, and in this case ostensibly on the right to appear fair minded. They don't want to be seen as being against Obama from the beginning, so they write laudatory fluff columns at first about his redemptive change and post-racial qualities only to slowly work toward their confirming their inherent distate for his ideology. Personally I'll just take the “he sucks on day one” columnist.

Nope...Peggy was smitten and now feels jilted. She's got a long long road to go to ever convince me to ever read her fluff again.

Believe it or not, I distinctly recollect an interview of Margaret Thatcher shortly after Jimmy Carter was elected President in 1976. She told the interviewer that she liked Carter because he was a "conservative with a small 'c.'" I kid you not; she actually said it.

Peggy is a speechwriter, a poet of politics, a hopeless American romantic. She’s still in love with Reagan’s “sunrise in America.” So when Obama echoed that mantra, she followed her heart, not than her head.

I prefer the constancy (and lack of butt-kissing) from the “he sucks on day one” columnist myself. But how many of those were there? Krauthammer and VDH?

Then you quickly get into the related radio commentator, book author and blog turf - Rush, Corsi, Malkin. But not many others shouting the alarm from the rooftops.
