RAT Hypocrisy on Steroids: Obama, Biden, Reid, et al Attacked Use of Reconciliation in 2005
Youtube ^

This video is a compilation of clips including one of Biden claiming that he "prays to God" that when RATS are in power again, they won't abuse it by using reconciliation, which the bunch of them portray as pure evil. A must-see that we need to make go viral.

as pointed out on Fox’s Bret Baier panel a few nights ago, “there is a whole lot more video where that came from”.
Should be fun to watch.

Reading some of the comments, there are at least two who claim that there is a difference between the nuclear option and reconciliation. So, what are they talking about?

and your point is?

Republicans are patsies when it comes to politics. Hard for any one of them to claim outrage after none objected to seating a person inelligible to be President.

Sure they’ll scream and fret and fro, but as a group completely useless at this point.

But don’t call them a teapartier or a birther or they’ll cry.

I am actually surprised that the Obummer even cares to through them a bone now and then...maybe he has pity for them ....he must like his republican poodles...

Funny you should ask, that just came up here last night, and another FReeper posted this link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_option

I don’t fully agree with this analysis. While the two terms may technically differ, using them interchangeably has now become so common that for practical purposes, I think it’s hard to claim that it’s an incorrect usage. Everyone knows what DiFi is talking about when she uses it in this video.

The Democrats seem to be out in full force stating that nuclear option and reconciliation are two completely different things.

It’s a question of whether you can put the toothpaste back into the tube now that it’s so common to use the term nuclear option to mean more than one thing.

I sure would rather see them spend their time trying to clarify terms than pass their unconstitutional monstrosity of a health care bill.

Reconcilliation is a recognized process for budget, tax and spending, and deficit reduction measures. In order for something to be “reconcilled” is must be able to be “scored” against the budget. The nuculear option refers to misusing the reconcilliation process to pass purely (or mostly) policy matters.

The Byrd rule was set up to control that by making “extraneous” provisions subject to a point of order. But it takes 60 votes to overturn a ruling on the point of order. Since Democrats control the Senate the Byrd rule becomes ineffective to protect the purpose of reconcilliation in the health care debate.

Most Americans do not have the foggiest idea of how different the procedures are in the House versus the Senate and the reasons why the Founders wanted it that way. In the Senate, no member is above the other, it is a Gentleman’s game. The House represents the passion and immediate will of the electorate. The Senate is the deliberative body that runs by clear agreement (supra-majority to invoke cloture and cut off debate).

You go “nuculear” when you trample on these differences and turn the Senate rules on their head to resemble those of the House.

The Republicans who have done so much to keep an usurper in the highest office, surely deserve this treatment as being the wimps they are. Unfortunately, they still have no clue where Obummer is heading, he will easily swat these nats away on his road to absolute control.

Normal people would be embarrassed by this hypocricy. But democrats have no principles and no sense of shame. This doesn’t bother them at all.

But democrats have no principles and no sense of shame.

Exactly! That's what makes them democrats.
