In a vacuum theres nothing newsy about this, but 2012 isnt a vacuum. Weve talked before about the developing narrative: Palin vs. anti-Palin, true conservatives vs. centrists, blue-collar vs. white-collar, and
populists vs. elitists. With Beck having brought down the house at CPAC and the GOP in the grip of tea party fee-vah, why oh why would a potential nominee spritz cold water on populism? Branding, dear boy, branding: As Mitt Romney sets out this week to promote his new book, No Apology, he is also auditioning for a rapidly disappearing role in American politics: a politician who is speaking out against the temptations of populism. The populism Im referring to is, if you will, demonizing certain members of society: going after businesspeople, going after Wall Street, going after people who are highly educated, people who are CEOs, Romney said in an interview. That kind of All of our problems are due to that group is something that is unproductive.

Romney cannot be trusted. He’s a two face.
You’re not allowed to say that!
The Fiscal Libertarians at the Chamber (and via the GOP press) will call you anti-business!
Damn, you, populist!
Here is what amazon said about willard’s book sales
Mitt Romney’s book sales are any indication of how he will do against Sarah Plain in the GOP primaries, things are not looking too good for our former governor from Massachusetts, at the moment.
While Sarah Palins book shot to # 1 at Amazon on pre-orders alone, on the same day that it was available for pre-orders (a good 2 months before it was released), Mitt Romney’s book, No Apology: The Case for American Greatness, is still stuck at # 245 in the Amazon sales rankings, with only one day to go before release tomorrow.
#245 in presales on the day it actually becomes available.
Pretty bad, Palin was #1 2 months before it was available and the 1st day of presales...
Yes. What a lame title of a book like I need Willard to know why this country is great. Willard will not be gettig one cent from me.
The SRM is going to be pushing Willard to be our man in 2012, and we need to say no Fn way.
“They also know they can succeed through the usual formula of ... and by promoting 1%-ers to bleed votes from a Palin-type candidate.”
And who are “they”? You sound like a populist.
People can vote any way they want in the primaries. If they make bad choices it’s weak to blame wall street and the “establishment” when things go wrong. I agree with you though that the next primary is starting to look a lot like the last one.
“Going Rogue” moved into #1 at amazon.com and maintained that position for three months. She sold nearly one million copies in pre-release.
Mitt’s book is currently #22 in Books and today is the official release date.

These Romney threads aren’t much fun any more, with the Romneybots hiding in the wood work.
Every time one of these RINO twinkie globalist commies mentions "populists" in a condescending tone, another hundred thousand Tea Party Patriots join the ranks.
These RINO twirps are not a majority, and they cannot win if the voters ignore their lies, and vote for the conservatives in the primaries.
Are there any Romneybots left?
Yes, there are still some here but most of them are in hiding. Tired of getting blasted, I suppose.
The Mittens left FR to go to Hot Air with the number Romneybot, Allah Pundit.
Tonight, Rick Perry won the TX Governor primary with no need for a run off. What’s interesting about the TX Governor primary race were the number of political celebrities getting involved. Debra Medina had Ron Paul’s endorsement. Kay Bailey Hutchinson had George HW Bush, Dick Cheney, and Dick Armey. Rick Perry had Sarah Palin in his corner. Power of a Palin endorsement in a GOP primary.
The 2008 retreads are 2nd tier candidates. I think it would best if Palin just skipped running in 2012 and endorse a dark horse candidate like My Man Mitch, Hale Barbour, or T-Paw. A Palin endorsement would give these guys the media buzz and momentum needed to fight the Inside the Beltway favored Romney.
