The day before yesterdays White House health care summit, Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND) told reporters: The only way this works is for the House to pass the Senate bill and then, depending on what the package is, the reconciliation provision that moves first through the House and then comes here.
When Conrad was reminded that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has repeatedly insisted that the House will not pass the Senate bill until the Senate passes a second bill that fixes the first, Conrad replied: Fine, then its dead.

If he does, somehow, get this bill through, he may be looking at a revolution in this country.
I don’t trust them.
First Zombie banks........now maybe Zombie health care bill? Obummer is the voodoo king.
How can you hope to reason with a man who excuses whatever he does with the childish retort, “because I’m the President”?
I dont believe the Kenyan has any thoughts of the House and Senate combining their bills. He has produced his own, and I believe intends for them to cut and paste it to an appropriations bill that has nothing to do with Health care, and then pass that as a reconciliation bill.
Is it legal? I suppose anything the majority of the Congress say’s is legal, will pass and then go to the Supreme Court.
Is it right and Just? Havent seen those words mentioned.
Should we take to the streets? If it is passed we should go to Washington and stop being friendly.
Cue Bones: “It’s dead, Barack.”
my guess is they fail to get enough House Dems to drink the Kool Aid and they fall back to some minimalist bill (tweak anti-trust law, cover “children” to age 26, etc) that can pass and declare victory. Not good but I’ll take it over a Public Option.
You don’t “reason” with someone that is out to destroy this country and your freedoms. You kick him out of office.
Please don't tell the socialist usurper that this particular effort to destroy our country is dead. (1) I want him wasting his time on this rather than finding something almost as destructive that might pass. (2) I want the voters to see the amazing level of contempt that today's Dem leaders feel for "ordinary" people.
Textbook definition of living in denial.
If we are going to be saved from this, we will be saved by the Constitution. The House has to pass this legislation first, because Article I, Section 7 states that all revenue bills shall originate in the House of Representatives. The Senate “may propose or concur with amendments,” but revenue-raising legislation cannot originate in the Senate. Health-care reform, as practiced by the Democrats, is all about raising taxes. Its chances for passage in the House don’t look all that good, at this point.
Unfortunately, Obama refuses to sign a DNR order, so even though this patient quite obviously is deader than a doornail, there will be weeks more of futile efforts to resuscitate it.
Obama is Mugabe 2 and America may become a combo or Zimbabwe and the USSR after it imploded.
The Russians could not afford their space program after the USSR went belly up. Sound familiar?
Sadly - our fate may be worse. Uneducated Russians are usually more intelligent then most American college grads.
Don't believe there is enough guts left for this to happen.
Note to Obama: What goes up must come down ...
It's already too late to try to play catch up through good sound decisions, so the only options left are the Hail Mary pass and onside kicks.
Just like in a football game, this tactic rarely succeeds, and usually causes the game to become even more lopsided.
Coach Obama would be better of trying to just stay in the game till halftime (mid-term elections) and come out in the second half with a new roster and a better plan.
Right. the best political outcome is for them to continue to try to pass it and continue to flail about in doing so.
At the same time, it is very worrying that they MIGHT be able to pull this off. For the sake of the country I hope they just give it up.
