The state of Israel is "heading towards disappearance," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday during a visit to the Syrian capital Damascus, DPA reported.

"The Zionist entity is heading for disappearance. The philosophy of its existence is over, and time is not running in the favour of the occupiers," he said.

"They have reached a dead end. All of their threats are the result of their weakness," Ahmadinejad told a joint press conference with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.

Not if Adolfinejad disappears first. There's a small window of opportunity in which the opposition can take down the current regime and stop the nuclear program. Once the bombing starts, the people will most likely rally behind Khamenei and Ahmadinejad (the enemy of my enemy is .. you know).

If he is going to do something, I wish he would just do it already. We are getting weaker by the second due to Obama’s mismanagement of the economy and disastrous policies on the military. If a global conflict were to break out we could barely hold our own a the moment. And if Israel and Iran go at it, the whole thing will become a global conflict very quickly.

I really don't think he is going to do anything. He is just rattling his saber, trying (IMO) to get either Israel or the US to attack. The shock and awe causes the country to rally around him, and he maintains power and can play the victim card. It also gives the opportunity to make the "Everyone hates Islam" argument.

More than anyone, he knows that if he nuked Israel it would bring a retaliatory strike and sanctions that would destroy his country. But if he can provoke someone else into attacking Iran, it would be a good thing for him. It might not, however, be a good thing for Achmed the bicycle guy.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sure doesn't need a speech writer. He says the same thing over and over again. Wonder if and when war comes to Iran if he'll be still blathering away?
