“Martyr yourself”
You say to another man, “martyr yourself?”
Words fail.
I’m not the Pope who is the spiritual leader of your church. What is his duty to his followers. Remember this was not just an act against Jews, but many, many Catholics and other Christians.
I’m not saying volunteer yourself to be put to death, but taking a stand that would have endangered your life?
If not for a cause such as this then what for? Put a little skin in the game.
As a final reply, if Pope John Paul had been Pope at that time, I think there would have been a different view on how the Catholic church reacted throughout WWII.
