Irrespective of the senator's strange behavior, this article reveals another troubling aspect of California's always-newsworthy political scene: legislators' perks.

Since when do senators (and presumably assemblymen as well) have "press secretaries" as well as aides? Since the state is flush with debt and unable to balance its budget?

This is just one more example of the political class -- the ones in office, that is -- protecting their own behinds, and to he11 with everyone else.
