U.S. officials late Wednesday confirmed the capture of another top Taliban leader in Pakistan, Fox News reported.

"The capture of an Afghan Taliban 'shadow governor' is positive, good news," an official told Fox News.

"This does not solve all of the problems, but going after the Afghan Taliban leadership has been important. Whenever the Pakistanis arrest somebody, that is a plus."

News of the arrest was reported earlier by Newsweek, which cited Taliban sources and counter-terrorism officials in Washington who named the detained man as Mullah Abdul Salam.

Totalitarian logic is the same everywhere - the top brass are too important to die for the cause. Going down fighting for Allah is for the little people, doncha know.

Lt. Col. Ralph Peters on Fox News said that the U.S. was not being allowed total access to these terrorists for questioning. The Paki Gov. was doing the questioning. The Paki Gov. did not want the U.S. to find out how much they (Paki) were in cahoots with these Taliban leaders.

Yeah, I considered that, but this looks like deal making. Surrendering to Pakistani Intelligence isn't the same as surrendering to the U.S. They waterboard their prisoners on muslim holidays as a break from real torture.

Geez, now we’re going to have to listen to how a “senior” Taliban leader has been caught every week from now to kingdom come. Argh.

They’re being taken by Pakistani forces, not by ours.

When captured, probably the first thing out of their mouths was, “Hey! I paid you guys off just last week!”
