At the FReeper Canteen!

C'mon and take a break ! Walk on over to the water cooler and lets chat. Post your thoughts, opinions, news of the day, rantings, ravings, pontificates, hypothesis, hyperboles, your soap box cause, your mantra, your baggage, your garbage, your blogging, your secrets, whatever you feel would make talk around the water cooler real interesting!

Please remember that The Canteen is here to support
and entertain our troops and veterans and their families,
and is family friendly.

A little humor....

Although fighting the enemy is considered normal, the Army frowns upon fighting among the troops. So much so that after one too many battles royal, my uncle was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation in which he had to endure some odd questions.

"If you saw a submarine in the Sahara, what would you do?"

"Well, I'd throw snowballs at it," he answered.

"Where'd you get the snowballs?" the doctor asked.

"Same place you got the submarine."

KRISS Super V System (KSVS) and the KRISS Vector SMG. The first major breakthrough in weapons operating systems in more than 120 years! The patented KSVS actually works with the operator by helping deliver more rounds on-target, more of the time. By reducing felt recoil by as much as 60% and barrel elevation by 95%, the KSVS stays where you aim it and drastically reduces the need to re-acquire sight picture...even when firing full auto at 1000 rounds-per-minute! The rest of the story....

*Crispy Green Bean Fries with Wasabi Cucumber Ranch Dip*

Ingredients

Wasabi Cucumber Ranch Dip

1/2 cup ranch dressing
1/4 cup cucumber, peeled, seeded, minced
1 tablespoon milk
1 1/2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon wasabi powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 pinch cayenne pepper

Green Beans

1 egg, beaten
1 cup milk
4 cups vegetable broth or chicken broth
6-8 ounces fresh green beans
1 cup flour
1 cup plain breadcrumbs or seasoned dry bread crumb
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
vegetable shortening, for frying or vegetable oil

Directions

Combine dip ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth.
Place in bowl; cover and chill till ready to use. Dip will thicken as it chills.
Place beans in the broth.
Bring to a boil and cook 15 minutes, then place in cold water to stop cooking process.
Mix beaten egg with milk in a shallow bowl.
Measure 1 cup of flour into another shallow bowl.
Combine bread crumbs, 3/4 teaspoons salt, black pepper, onion powder and garlic powder into a third bowl.
Take a handful of beans out of the water and shake off excess liquid.
Coat the beans with the flour, shaking to remove excess flour.
Dip the beans, one at a time, into egg/milk mixture, then dip in breadcrumb mixture.
Place the beans on a plate until all are coated.
Heat the shortening or oil to 350°F in a heavy skillet(or use deep fryer). Use enough to cover the beans, about 1 1/2 inches.
Fry until golden brown, about 1 1/2 minutes.
Drain on paper towels.
To serve, place on a large platter and serve with the wasabi cucumber ranch dip. Enjoy!

Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

Tell It All
Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. —Psalm 62:8

A clerk who helped me purchase a small digital voice recorder told me that he kept one just like it in his car when he worked in California. “When I began driving home after work I switched it on,” he said, “and I talked about everything that happened that day on the job, good and bad. When I pulled into my driveway, I hit the erase button.” Then he smiled. After telling everything to his voice recorder, he apparently had no need to go over the day’s problems with his wife or family.

It reminded me of how often I needlessly rehearse my disappointments and problems to others instead of telling them to God. The psalmist wrote: “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us” (Ps. 62:8). Twice he spoke of waiting silently for God, his rock and salvation (vv.1-2,5-7).

While there is great comfort in sharing our difficulties with a friend, we miss the greatest help if we fail to bring them to the Lord. Joseph Scriven said it so well:

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

No matter where we are, Jesus is only a prayer away.
