Governor rebukes Assembly Democrats over Maldonado nomination

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger suggested Tuesday that Assembly Democrats are losing a public relations war by resisting the nomination of his choice for lieutenant governor.

At a news conference, the governor read from editorials and columns published in California newspapers that called the Assembly "shameful" and "infantile" for voting Thursday against state Sen. Abel Maldonado, a Republican from Santa Maria.

Schwarzenegger announced Friday he would withdraw and then resubmit Maldonado's nomination. He made it official Tuesday.

"I challenge the Assembly Democrats to set aside the partisan bickering and confirm Sen. Maldonado once and for all," Schwarzenegger said.

Asked why he thought Maldonado still had a chance of getting confirmed, the governor said: "I'm a big believer that sequels can be better than the original."

Try calling them “girly-men” and see how that works out in sequel.

Ah yes, these are the same Democrats who keep trying to tell everyone that there is too much partisanship & gridlock in Sacramento.

Schwarzenegger needs to go back to making bad “B” movies. At least he couldn’t do much damage to Americans in that role. Schwarzenegger’s endless spending spree is going to cost all Americans, because his failed leadership in his failed state will need federal aid to survive.

"I'm a big believer that sequels can be better than the original."

If it's written by, produced by, edited by, and stars all the same nitwits then it's not likely to be any better at all.

Wasn’t it Republican Maldonado that cast the vote that “broke the gridlock” on that outrageous Dem budget last year. You’d think the Dems would approve him simply because they owe him a favor!

Indeed it was. Maldonado sold his vote to get two initiatives on the ballot (the second, Prop 14, will be voted on this June). And of course being Arnold's lap dog made being nominated for Lt. Gov an easy prediction.
