An article on the Republican primary in NY-23 for the seat we narrowly lost last November.

I take it that Paul Maroun will not be running? The article says that only Hoffman, Barclay and Doheny will be serious candidates, and Maroun’s name would have been mentioned if he was interested in running.

From the three candidates, it seems to me that Hoffman is the obvious choice.

Barclay is a NARAL candidate.
Paul Maroun is mentioned in the poll. It seems that he will not run as long as Hoffman is in the race.

It is hard to imagine a situation where Hoffman does not get the nomination in September, if not before. I think I am skipping this one. Ain’t going back up there.

We have a special election for state rep in CT 2 weeks from now. I am trying to find a reason to show up. State Central is running the show, which makes the experience unpleasant. Unpleasant is a term meaning “total misery”.

Interesting. I had assumed that Paul Maroun would run, and would win. In the poll he suffers from lack of name recognition, but he was the guy with the most votes in the first round of the nomination contest, before the threw the race to DeDe.

I didn’t think Hoffman was that impressive as a candidate, but he has plenty of time to learn to give speeches, and to brush up on the local issues.

That “local issues” knock I’ve heard a lot on Hoffman. I thought it was just a rat attack line.

During a debate last year he seemed to me to give the best answer on a Canadian border question.

Am I wrong?

he’s not quick with the answers.

But he will coast to the nomination.

Maroun hasn’t declared. The filing deadline isn’t until July, though.
