Congestion pricing to reduce car travel. Elimination of curbside parking. A carbon tax "of some kind," not to mention taxes on plastic and paper bags. Advocating vegetarianism and veganism, complete with "Meatless or Vegan Mondays." Those are just some of the proposals put forth by the Cambridge Climate Congress, an entity created in May 2009 to respond to the "climate emergency" plaguing the Massachusetts city.

They're absolutely nuts. That's why Massachusetts sent Scott Brown to the US Senate.

The Cambridge moonbats must have missed the Snowpocalypse that's been in the news this week!

They think they have a “climate emergency”, but it’s really a Clymer Emergency. Big time.

More power to ‘em.
Starting today - in light of rising global temperatures - Cambridge has mandated the confiscation of all winter clothing for recycling into alternative fuel.

It would take an entire ocean liner filled with green leafy vegetables to provide as many calories as a side of beef.
If you want to save the energy of transporting and storing huge quantities of vegetables, you should feed them to an animal and then eat the animal.
If these people were really, really serious about reducing the carbon footprint of the food supply, they would advocate the eating of insects. They are high in protein, generally low in fat, and can be raised in small spaces, using food which is inedible to us. They would also advocate eating fish from sustainable sources.

What “climate emergency” are they talking about?????
***********
“That’s just a revenue-raiser for the city,” said Green. “There’s an overall incoherence of having a carbon tax and three or four indirect taxes.”
Oh, now I see, “climate emergency” is a code word. What they really mean is we need more of your money so we can grow Cambridge city government.

taxes on plastic and paper bags
Meat requires fewer plastic bags than vegetables. A ten pound beef brisket contains about as many calories as 12,000 stalks of celery. Guess which one will fit in fewer bags, take up less refrigerator space, and require less energy to chew / digest?

I live in Shoreline, Washington, between Seattle and the city of Edmonds. Seattle has become hostile to the automobile, imposing severe parking restrictions and high parking meter fees. Hence, I am less likely to shop there. Edmonds, however, is car friendly. Its small downtown has no parking meters, yet paradoxically you can always find a place to park. It is a pleasant and attractive place to shop, and convenient. I go there often.

The hubris of these Jacobins is apparent in this line from Rood; referring to nanny-state tyranny as an “inspiring” example to us all:
“Cambridge is full of really smart people, so you know, it has the potential.”
The religious parallels of “meatless Mondays” and indulgence-like “carbon credits” are striking. The peer pressure to be “greener-than-thou” inside the “Crimson Bubble” of Haaaaaahvaaaad must be theater of the absurd.

“Formerly Protestant, Harvard has now descended into madness ...”
AS a Bible based Protestant, I had no attachment to “social justice” or pacifism. The Bible is where I get my guidance from and it is never wrong. The problem is, being fallible, I still make mistakes but atleast I know where to find perfect wisdom and that is the Bible.
Most of our “Ivy League” schools are bastions of evil and teach propaganda. It's a shame.
