I suspect he recently came into some money... no need to work any more.

Heh... Another Democrat sees the light! Not seen the light, he's felt the heat.

It was not going to be a cakewalk, said Joe Fleming, who conducted the poll.
That's it, imho: the Kennedy sense of entitlement. Patches might actually have to work to win his seat and he stands a chance of losing. Can't have that ...

Democrats are finding out “Health Care Reform” is the new third rail of politics.
It sunk Clinton and now it is sinking Obama.
When Bush tried SS reform it got him too. However, to his credit, he was smart enough to let go, as was Clinton. Whether or not these things need to be done is not the point. The point is they are political poison.
Obama seems to have no such smarts.

John Loughlin was going to be a formidable candidate. He's even more impressive than Scott Brown and more conservative. That is the real reason "Patches" is bowing out - it would have been another humiliating loss for the Kennedy family.

SS reform WILL happen and along the lines offered by Bush. It is not only the only way to save SS, it is the best way for every individual who works for a living.

Well, have all members of the present generation of Camelot Kennedys been steriled? If not, then the answer is rather clear. To the Kennedys, private sector jobs are more offensive than they were to Maynard G. Crebbs (you have to be really old to know this reference).

I cannot believe that come January 2011 for the first time in my life there will not be a Kennedy in office in Washington. Never thought I’d live to see the day.
To: ninonitti
That will leave Barack as the last Kennedy brother in office, right Chrisie?
