For all to consider:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124173036742997785.html

Thirty years ago this week, Margaret Thatcher led her Conservative Party to victory and set the scene for a wave of privatization and deregulation across the Anglosphere. From the Keynesian mindset that delivered economic stagflation and turmoil in the 1970s, the U.K. as well as the U.S. and the Antipodes moved to an era of sounder policy and more durable prosperity. Today, as the cause for small government and free markets appears quixotic, it is easy to forget how depressing things looked three decades ago and how the economic reforms unleashed by the Thatcher Revolution led to a golden age.

and...

But has the age of Thatcher, Reagan and Howard been consigned to the dustbin of history? With today's global financial turmoil, U.S. President Barack Obama, U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Mr. Rudd champion the politics of envy and the discredited economics of the Keynesian welfare state and demand management.

Obama’s words are just as useless as he is.

More triangulation of the sort we saw in the SOTU.

He tells everyone what they want to hear and then sets about implementing his original program.

As Rasmussen polls have shown, voters are so desperate for good news, they'll believe him (temporarily).

BTW, this kind of ploy is only available to pathological liars...honest men and women just can't stomach telling such whoppers.

"For growth to be truly sustainable -- for our prosperity to be truly shared and our living standards to actually rise -- we need to move beyond an economy that is fueled by budget deficits and consumer demand,"

The Obamination slipped up, and admitted his true nature! He wants prosperity to be truly shared! He wants those that sit on their a**es to get the same economic benefits as those that invest in education and work to support themselves! He wants an economy not driven by consumer demand -- he wants the government to drive the economy, rather than consumers.

Sounds just like communism, an economy centrally driven by the government, where everyone is equally miserable. His utopia already exists in China. Perhaps he should move there.

May our parents forgive us for squandering their sacrifices by electing this communist b*stard. May our children forgive us for recklessly endangering their future.

No. Nothing but empty words. He will throw money down the big government drain faster than ever, and claim at the same time that he is balancing the budget.

Only Bush left him such a terrible mess, it will take more time to do it.

What politicians LOVE about Keynes is that he gives them permission to print as much pork as they want.

When critics asked where this would lead in the long run, Keynes famously responsed; “In the long run we are all dead.” Not so widely known, perhaps, is the fact that Keynes was an open homosexual, even back when it was illegal. So, he didn’t give a damn about what would happen down the line to other people’s children. He didn’t have any children, and had no interest in them.

Barry is probably gay, too. So what does he care about children, beyond using them as cover and as photo ops?

To me that sounds like he is joining the far-left in their calls to abandon consumerism and move to sustainable collective organic farms where we can all sing kumbaya.

Blah blah blah.

It's talk, people. Believe what the man does, not what he says.

He's just going through the predictable "move toward the center" rhetoric that every liberal spouts as election time nears.

“In other words, in order to create jobs and raise incomes for the middle class over the long run, we need to export more and borrow less from around the world, and we need to save more money and take on less debt here at home.”

I do not think that Obama would say that at all. I think he and his affiliates are in favor of a perpetual austerity program of living within an envelope of decreasing means consistent with an eventual reduction of population and economy of the US using multiple “progressive” measures. Neither party is voicing any thoughts of even partial reindustrialization except in terms of “green, alternate energy”, which is inadequate for the purposes of succoring a population of 300 million persons.

Obama will ONLY throw Keynesian economics under the bus when he feels he can instead pursue Leninist or Marxist economics.

IMHO, he thinks of America as a milch cow, fat and stupid, to be milked for every "progressive" fool notion and third-world dictator.

For instance, if you were worried about America's "carbon footprint", why would you claim a need for a $1TRILLION dollar "stimulus" to grow the economy?

Someone smarter than me once said, "character is revealed by what you do when no one is watching"

In this case, even if Obama tacks to the center, he has already revealed his contempt for America, for bipartisanship, for capitalism, etc. His czars lack confirmation by the Senate and he has riddled the bureaucracy with hard leftist nutjobs like himself. He spent 20 years in the self-satisfied company of Ayers and Wright; only a fool would think he has changed in one month.

YMMV
