Perhaps the ads from Focus on the Family featuring Pam Tebow and her son Tim act as a sort of Rorshach test for some people. Where most viewers would see the ads as playful, light, and welcoming, some see them as a threat and maybe some dont see them at all outside of their preconceived notions.
Power Line notices that the Associated Press misreports the content of the two ads: But not every commercial was strictly humorous. Automaker Toyota aired several pregame ads to reassure worried owners after its recalls connected with accelerator problems.
And a commercial by conservative Christian group Focus on the Family, perhaps the most anticipated ad of the night, hinted at a serious subject although it took a humorous tone too. Heisman winner Tim Tebow and his mother talk about her difficult pregnancy with him and how she was advised to end the pregnancyimplying an antiabortion messagebut ended with Tebow tackling his mom and saying the family must be tough.

If any of you saw the Tim Tebow ad with his mother, it was very tasteful, funny, and created interest in the focus on the family web site. GEEE! Exactly what a super bowl ad is designed to do.
Loony Left Exposed. They need ridicule.
YouTube has a section called AdBlitz which shows all the commercials and lets you vote for your favorite. Guess which commercial is the only one they don’t show or allow you to vote for—The Tebow ad. (http://www.youtube.com/user/adblitz)
“Heisman winner Tim Tebow and his mother talk about her difficult pregnancy with him and how she was advised to end the pregnancy”
The ad on the CBS site doesn’t even say she was advised to end it.
The last three words in the title are unnecessary.
They always tell us what they’re afraid of, don’t they?
They made their own worst ad out of what they didn’t want to see in the FotF ad, and that content wasn’t even in there.
Just goes to show you that Satan isn’t omnicient.
LOL! Focus on the Family played rope-a-dope and the pro-aborts bit!
Believe it or not I read some commentary (here I think) from a NAG related woman that said the ad was NOT benign as Tim Tebow tackling his mom shows that the pro-life movement still had a problem with violence against women. Not an exact quote but you get the idea.
Because of the controversy THEY caused, I informed myself as to the Tebow story, as did millions of others. Talk radio jumped on the bandwagon and there were several articles about it.
I think their strategy backfired. If they would have kept their mouths shut, I would have thought that it was a commercial for Focus on the Family, not a pro-life commercial. We should all thank them for bringing attention to the pro-life movement and exposing their own hypocrisy.
I think that was part of the “strategerie” from Focus on the Family. They set the trap and the NAGs bit!
LOL! I love it when a plan comes together! LOL!
Nothing like smacking a dope upside the head with their own stick huh?
